The Sydney Spring Carnival continues at Rosehill on Saturday for Five Diamonds Day. Weather is fine, track is soft (5) and the rail is out three metres for the entire circuit.

9 Rise To It (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top but not really a race I want to get involved in. He has won his past two for Maher/Eustace, both at Hawkesbury, the latest over 2000m where he kept chasing and surging hard late to get the win narrowly but impressively IMO. Right down in the weights, maps to do no work in the run and with the gate, he can settle near the speed and be around the mark.

1 Touristic (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks to be in for a good prep and should take beating. He resumed at the midweeks over 1550m on the Kenso when run off his legs early and was never a threat to Iknowatsar but kept on and was pretty good in defeat behind the in form galloper. Upside to come, much better set up this time around, he should prove hard to beat.

3 Marsabit (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one that perhaps can be included in wider exotics. He was unwanted in betting two weeks back at Randwick and was never a factor, finishing last behind Sequestered. He is racing like horse that wants more ground, which he gets here, and his very best is good enough to be more than competitive here. Doubt he wins but can pinch a first four spot.

6 Speycaster (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should take beating here for Chris Waller. I am very forgiving of his run last start on the Kenso given he got too far back in a race dominated the leader and eventual winner, Father’s Day. He has that 2400m run under the belt, which should hold him in good stead, and I think he won’t be spotting that big of a head start this time around.

5 Father’s Day (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has found winning form and he can go on with it. He got a 12/10 from King on the Kenso last time, leading throughout, setting up a decent lead and pretty much pinched it, maintaining a safe margin to the line in an impressive display. He’s got the good racing style, he’s now in form…very likeable here IMO.

10 Loving Cilla (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is somewhat unknown at 2400m but she is flying for Greg Hickman and rates highly. Her last couple of runs have come at 1800m, winning on the course proper at Randwick two back in a Midway before going to the Kenso where she got back and kept chasing behind the nice three year old, Port Lockroy. Like her up in trip and finds a winnable race IMO.

2 Dollar Magic (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and prove hard to run down. Scott Singleton trained mare that ran two weeks ago at Randwick where she attempted to lead throughout over 1200m and she was as gallant as ever but couldn’t quite see it through, nabbed late by Marnix. Rosehill 1100m looks perfect for her racing pattern and she’ll look the winner a long way. Hopefully she can hang on.

5 Eagle Nest (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is heading in the right direction for Ryan/Alexiou and with home track advantage, she rates highly. All the way winner first up at Gosford before going to the Kenso where she produced sustained speed from the front and gave them a belting in an impressive display. Hard to knock the way she has returned and now on the home track, on speed racing style, she’ll take running down once again.

1 Miss Hellfire (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is first up for Team Snowden and is dangerous. She resumes, with her last run coming on June 24 at Randwick when beaten a lip by Overriding in a close up finish. Soft trial to get ready for the return but she likes Rosehill and the form around her from last prep does read quite well.

11 Monte Outlander (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a great bet here IMO. Noel Mayfield Smith has this bloke absolutely flying at the moment, with the gelding being just over four weeks between runs since a dominant win over this trip on the home deck at Coffs Harbour. Kept up to the mark with a trial at Coffs on Sunday and gee he looked to move nicely. Gets in really well after the claim, maps ideally…best each way gamble on the card.

2 The Dramatist (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks to be in for a really good prep and I think up to 1400m, fitter, it all points to him running well. He resumed two weeks ago in the 1200m Highway at Randwick where he got back to near last in the run but was able to slice his way through and found the line quite well late behind impressive winner Bandi’s Boy. Good second up record and with a more positive ride, he’ll take beating.

19 Montebello’s Charm (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has an awful racing pattern but he will be strong late. He was 1500m back to 1200m when racing two weeks back, settling near last in the run and did make up good ground without threatening behind stablemate Bandi’s Boy. Back up in trip is a big tick and if he can be within range, he has the finale to be dangerous.

12 Shadows Of Love (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be ready. Kim Waugh trained mare that ran on the Kenso last time at Randwick when near the speed throughout and she tried her guts out but she couldn’t quite get there when a narrow second to Cloudland. Maps to get a beaut run in transit and should be hard fit.

5 Vindication (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks to be back on track. He was plain two back at Canterbury before being freshened up and going to Randwick in a Midway where he was near the speed throughout and tried his guts out but couldn’t quite get there when a close up third to Eye Pea Oh. He has improvement to come and off last start, he appeals.

Fitter and up to 1200m are two big ticks for 7 Black Duke (Bet Now:  $SP.00). This gelding resumed on the Kenso at the midweels where the market said he would need the run and while that was the case, I thought he was far from disgraced in defeat and did make up solid headway. Good second up record and has run well at Midway company previously. Enough there to say he can run an improved race at odds.

5 Dalchini (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is flying. I am convinced of that. On face value. it was an okay run in The Invitation behind Espiona, but given the race shape and track pattern, her effort in defeat and the way she found the line, the run was a beauty. If she can settle closer in the run, I am convinced she can win a good race like this.

1 Royal Merchant (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks hard to beat for Maher/Eustace. This mare ran two weeks ago in The Invitation when off the speed throughout and seemingly had her chance but battled away well enough in defeat behind Espiona. She probably isn’t racing as well as she was earlier in the year but off last start, I think she is going well enough to take this out.

3 Finepoint (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Chris Waller trained mare that resumes. This mare is first up, having not raced since June 24 at Eagle Farm when a close up third in the Tatts Mile behind Character after seemingly getting every chance. Hasn’t had a trial in Sydney but has had a couple of jumpouts in Melbourne and seemingly moved well so I think watch the market and see what it does.

1 Shangri La Express (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a pretty sharp colt for GaiBott and has to be rated as one of the leading contenders. Market wanted him with confidence late when debuting three weeks ago at Randwick and those that backed him knew what they were doing, leading throughout and spanking them in a sharp display. Rosehill 1100m suits his style and stable is flying with their juveniles.

11 Miss Judas (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a key chance. Team Freedman trained filly that debuted behind Shangri La Express three weeks back at Randwick and was pretty good late from off the speed, making up ground but was never threatening the impressive all the way winner. If she can settle closer and be within range, she has the finale to be dangerous.

12 Art’s Alive (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should be around the mark for Brad Widdup. This filly debuted at the midweeks at Warwick Farm where she had a suck run in behind and tried her guts out but was no match for all the way winner Sovereign Hill, one of the more impressive juveniles seen in Sydney this season, so I reckon that form will hold up quite well for this.

3 Antino (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has plenty on these if there is petrol left in the tank. A stride away from winning the Toorak two back before going to the Crystal Mile at The Valley where he should have won but didn’t get clear air at the right time, driving late to just miss out on the win when a narrow second to Prowess. 1800m, I think, will be ideal for him, and with the class factor, he is clearly the one to beat.

12 Unspoken (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is absolutely flying this time in and rates as one of the leading contenders. He is three weeks between runs since a dominant all the way win at Randwick where he was ridden like the best horse in the race and duly saluted, giving them a spanking. Good test here against some likely types, but he is a likely type himself and with his racing style, he’ll give himself every chance.

6 Jimi Hendrix (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. UK galloper that makes his Australian debut for Annabel Neasham and he brings with him some very strong form lines, notably a placing in the Summer Mile at Ascot and did win at Royal Ascot before that, so he certainly has a bit of quality about him so I think you have to watch the market and see what it does.

2 Atmosphere (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. Both runs back have come over 1200m at Randwick, the latest coming a fortnight back when just off the speed and looked to be trucking. Unfortunately he didn’t really get a crack at them and it was ugly viewing if you were on behind Marnix. Hard fit now, up to 1400m, he’ll take beating against these.

1 Gringotts (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a nice horse for Maher/Eustace that is creeping up in the weights but hard to knock the way he’s racing. He had to find plenty to win two weeks ago at Randwick but he really lifted late under Schiller to get the win. He’s done little wrong in his career to date and I think he should be around the mark.

5 Felix Majestic (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and prove hard to get past. He put together a couple of sharp wins on the bounce before going to this trip at Randwick two weeks ago where he was on speed for the most part but couldn’t quite see it through when beaten two lengths by Gringotts. I think getting back to Rosehill is a big tick and if he gets a cheap furlong or two, he’ll take running down.

4 Plundering (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Shooting To Win gelding for Annabel Neasham that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since July 29 when a narrow second at Randwick, beaten a lip by King Of Naples in a blanket finish. Hasn’t done much wrong in a nine start career and I thought his recent trial work has been very good, so keen to see how he goes. Watch the market.

5 Contemporary (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should love a rise to 1200m. He resumed a few weeks back at Randwick over 1100m where he got off the speed and was good late without threatening, beaten just under two lengths by Dashing Legend in a solid return. Like him up in trip and I think with a more positive ride, he can certainly take this out.

3 With Your Blessing (Bet Now:  $SP.00), I think, is in for a good prep and fitter with a potentially more economical run are two big ticks for him. He resumed over 1100m at Randwick three weeks ago when unwanted in betting but he did a good job in defeat after settling on speed, sticking on and was just found wanting late in the piece behind Dashing Legend. Like him with the run under the belt, he’s a leading chance.
