Seven races will be run and won at Cranbourne on Saturday night. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out nine metres for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (17:16) Beraldo Coffee Mdn Plate 1000m
5 Too Darn Crystal (Bet Now: $SP.00) for me. Price/Kent trained filly that is on debut off the back of impressive jumpout work at Cranbourne where she has moved well enough and ran decent time. Stable can get them ready for first up/on debut and she looks talented so I am with her.
1 Cloisters (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a son of Frosted for James Cummings that is on debut. He has had a couple of jumpouts at Flemington in readiness for the debut and each time he has looked pretty good. Seems to have found a winnable maiden here so keen to see how he goes.
6 Wild Roses Grow (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a definite improver for Jason Warren. This girl debuted at Mornington where she was raw and new to the caper and couldn’t quite get involved. She had jumped out well prior and is bred to be handy so she deserves a look.
Race 2. (17:55) Nzb Karaka 2025 Mdn Plate 1000m
4 Motcombs (Bet Now: $SP.00) on top for me but not really a race I want to get involved in. Ciaron Maher trained filly that resumed at this track/distance where she got back in the run and was never really a factor. Has a gate to settle much closer in the run here and the depth, overall, isn’t deep to my eye.
3 Magna Mark (Bet Now: $SP.00) is bursting to win. Looked like that win would come at Stony Creek last time out but she couldn’t quite see it through and was nabbed late. She gets in very well after the claim, good racing style and back to 1000m is a big tick.
9 Tan Tat Rubi (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks suited back to 1000m after racing over 1200m at Yarra Valley last start when attempting to lead throughout and tried hard but just didn’t run the trip out. This looks more her go and with her racing style, she’ll I give herself every chance.
Race 3. (18:30) R&C Asphalt Hcp (C1) 1200m
8 Buades (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the way I am leaning. James Cummings trained three year old that ran over 1200m at Mornington last time out where he seemingly had every chance in behind the speed but couldn’t quite finish the race off behind Regal Might, beaten under two lengths. This isn’t a deep race, should press forward and take beating.
6 Naughty Bernie (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks a handy type for Clinton McDonald. Big win from him on debut at Moe, giving them a start and a beating, letting down with purpose late to win and win well. The time was solid vs rest of the day and the race has produced two subsequent winners. Tricky draw, but commands respect.
10 Reasonable Point (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks to be coming along nicely for the return. Ben Brisbourne trains this filly, who has shown talent since day one but hasn’t quite gone on with it. That said, she has looked sharp in trial work, including a win on Monday, so I say watch the market.
Race 4. (19:00) Hertz Mdn Plate 1200m
5 Broadbeach Miss (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be taking care of these. Dom Sutton trained mare that made her debut at Seymour and she was one of the real eye catchers of the meeting I thought when closing off with purpose late, just missing out on the win when second to Mohnar. Better for the run, ideal map, I think she has a bit on these.
9 Melodia Perfecta (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes here with relative fresh legs for Grahame Begg, having not raced since Dec 27 at Mornington when off the speed and kept chasing when third to Tsarine. Racing like 1200m suits and outside the top tip, this race is a touch on the thin side.
2 Strum (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes through the Tsarine race mentioned above. He was wide no cover throughout and that hard run just told on him late in the piece when down the track. Maps to get a much better run in transit, not dismissing him.
Race 5. (19:30) Hyland Sportswear (Bm70) 1000m
5 Mantua (Bet Now: $SP.00) is getting towards last chance territory but this does look a lovely race for him. He ran at Caulfield Heath on Boxing Day where he looked all over the winner after leading but he had no answers late for the finale of Perilous Fighter. No real depth to this race, jockey upgrade, good racing style…he should be putting this field away.
8 Interest Point (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Briedoake/Jenkins trained three year old that resumes. He hasn’t raced since the Spring when outclassed in the Vain behind Band Of Brothers. He has looked strong in a couple of jumpouts for the return and has a touch of quality so watch the market.
4 Epic Centre (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a threat with his best. He ran on Pakenham Cup Day over 1000m when near the speed and fought hard but just lacked the class to finish the job behind Title Fighter. Good racing style and if he leads, he’ll take running down.
Race 6. (20:00) Ladbrokes Form Genius Hcp (64) 1500m
2 Cash Converter (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the way I am leaning. He has done little wrong this time, his latest run seeing him finish third at Seymour over 1400m where he got back to near last in the run but really liked the way he finished off. His he’s within range, he has the finale to take this out.
3 Itsukushima (Bet Now: $SP.00) will land on the bunny and run a bold race, as seen at Seymour last start. He attempted to lead throughout and gave a solid kick from the front but just couldn’t quite see it through when third to Samurai. Good racing style and with front end control, he’ll take beating.
5 Mishika (Bet Now: $SP.00) is dangerous at a price. She was wide no cover at Wangaratta last time out but despite the hard run, she loomed and looked all over the winner but the hard run just told and she felt the pinch to finish third. Better run/luck in transit, she can win.
Race 7. (20:30) Bunyip Equipment Hcp (64) 1300m
2 Sign From Above (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the each way play for me in the get out. He resumed over 1200m at Caulfield Heath where he got a fair way out of his ground and while he was never threatening, he found the line well enough in defeat I thought behind Better Link. Good second up record and back miles in depth, I think he’s a great each way gamble.
3 Crusader Kings (Bet Now: $SP.00) commands respect for Clinton McDonald. Lot of ticker shown to win on debut at Mornington when on speed throughout and credit to him, he was there to be beaten but he found under pressure to fend them off and win. Good racing style, home track, rates highly.
8 High Security (Bet Now: $SP.00) is dangerous at odds. He resumed over 1200m at Mornington where he got back in the run and was held up at times but was good late in the piece behind Regal Might. Fitter and up in trip, Blinkers on, he can run a much improved race.
