10/7/2021 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Doomben

Nine races will be run and won at Doomben on Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is soft (7) and the rail is out a metre for the entire circuit.

1 Hinged (Bet Now: $2.70) is a beauty for Mick Nolan and in a tricky juvenile race, I think she is the safe option. Tough on speed effort to win at this track/distance last time out, finding plenty under Jim Byrne to get the job done. Proven weight carrier and she’s just a tough nut. Safe option for me.

3 Our Red Planet (Bet Now: $3.90) looks a progressive juvenile for Paul Butterworth that was an impressive debut winner at this track/distance. Got back in the run but once Ben Thompson got stuck in, he found when asked and finished over the top for a strong win. Hard to beat I’d suggest.

7 Shaluna (Bet Now: $15.00) is a handy filly that resumes for Desleigh Forster. This filly had a three run Autumn prep and didn’t exactly fire a shot, but the three races were far stronger than what she faces here. Trialled well on Tuesday over 1200m, so has a decent enough grounding for this.

2 Total Recall (Bet Now: $3.10) on top in a tricky staying race. Paul Messara trained gelding that ran last Wednesday at Eagle Farm. Thought he had his chance to win and reel in Thatfridayfeeling but couldn’t quite get there. He’s racing well and looks to have found a very winnable Saturday metro race for an astute camp.

4 Savvy Oak (Bet Now: $6.00) is one I can entertain for multiples. Rob Heathcoate trained gelding that comes through the Tatts Cup from a fortnight ago at Eagle Farm. Outclassed, but he didn’t disgrace himself I thought. Better suited here. Not sure I could back him to win but one for multiples.

10 Top Order (Bet Now: $9.00) comes through the Thatfridayfeeling race mentioned above from last Wednesday at Eagle Farm. He was forced to make his run nearer the inside and that part of the track isn’t A1, so the run had merit. If that is the right form line, then he is certainly overs compared to Total Recall.

6 Able Mabel (Bet Now: $1.950) is a talented mare for Barry Lockwood that resumes. This girl hasn’t raced since September 23 when on speed and fighting on strongly to get the job done over 1000m at Eagle Farm. Short course racing is her go in life and she has trialled up well leading in, suggesting she’s ready to go.

7 Trengganu (Bet Now: $6.00) can be an improver here second up. He was a bit plain fresh at the Sunny Coast but his finale was okay given he was last in the run. Can settle much closer in the run if need be and his second up form, both in QLD and NSW, does read quite well for a race like this.

2 Colpo Di Tamburo (Bet Now: $14.00) saves his best for the short course so giving him respect. Far from disgraced two back on Ipswich Cup Day. Then went to the Lightning at Gatton over 1100m and was game in defeat when second. Like him back to the short course and has the strong form lines to give this a shake.

6 Indispensable (Bet Now: $2.20) has done little wrong since joining Gary Duncan and third run for the camp, hopefully a win can be put on the board. Three weeks between runs since racing on Ipswich Cup Day. He tried his heart out but couldn’t quite get there when second to Prospectus. He’s knocking on the door to win one and gets his chance.

5 Seentoomany (Bet Now: $2.70) is a Michael Costa trained mare that returns to Queensland after a successful hit and run mission at Randwick a few weeks ago. She got out to big odds in the end and under a lovely steer from JVO, she was able to wear them down. Form since has been strong and this race is very thin after scratchings.

2 Cruze (Bet Now: $12.00) should appreciate the rise in trip for Barry Lockwood. Ran over 1200m at the Gold Coast two weeks ago and worked to the line fairly, but did have his chance when fourth to Papa Jo. On current form, he needs to improve, but the depth isn’t strong.

3 Nordicus (Bet Now: $5.00) has been excellent since joining Barry Baldwin from Anthony Cummings. Closed off strongly fresh at the Sunny Coast and just missed out on picking up the win when second to Superare. Then went to Eagle Farm where they rode him more positively and that move saw him get the win. He’ll take beating in a race like this.

9 Luskin Hero (Bet Now: $4.00) looks a nice working progress for Lawrie Mayfield-Smith. Is 2/2 this time in, resuming with a sharp win over 900m at the Gold Coast before racing over 1050m at Doomben last time out where he was just as impressive in what looked a strong Class 2. Confident he can measure up here.

4 Degas (Bet Now: $13.00) is an honest conveyance for Chris Munce that should be around the mark. Resumed at this track/distance just over two weeks ago and was good late from near last in the run when a close up second to Big Bad Bruce. Draws much better this time around, can sit closer and still be effective late.

4 One For Betty (Bet Now: $7.50) is a David Vandyke trained mare that should appreciate racing at this level. Found the class of the Silk Stocking a bit rich fresh at the Gold Coast. Then raced in an 85 where she got a mile out of her ground and failed to come on behind Really Discreet, who run well at Stakes level next start. Hard fit now, up to the mile, hard to beat.

2 Bryneich (Bet Now: $11.00) should love the rise to the mile. He’s had a few homes throughout his career but in the latter part of his career, he seems to be really switched on under Chris Anderson. He worked to the line strongly last time out at Eagle Farm from off the speed when third to Embers. Fitter and up in trip, he appeals.

Always have to respect Kris Lees when he brings them up from Newcastle so including 9 Predictable Miss (Bet Now: $11.00) in the numbers. Her last couple of runs have come in strong benchmark races at Newcastle where she has been far from disgraced. She finds a very winnable Saturday metro race.

5 Gee Tee Tee (Bet Now: $3.40) is three weeks between runs for the O’Dea/Hoysted camp and comes back in grade after contesting the Hinkler at Eagle Farm where he was plain after seemingly getting every chance behind Superium. 1200m is the query, but back to this grade, he should be okay.

7 Stuttering (Bet Now: $8.50) is a son of Love Conquers All that resumes for the Rob Heathcoate camp. This four year old is first up, having not raced since Feb 20 when close up at Eagle Farm behind the then in form Goodonja Sonja. Good record at Doomben and can sprint well fresh.

2 Snowzone (Bet Now: $23.00) is big odds here for a track specialist that I think is going well. Three runs in Sydney to start the prep and the resumption was very good. Next two runs, combination of poor steering and wide run in transit hasn’t helped his cause. Back home, Mallyon back on, he’s a big improver I’d suggest.

4 Roman Aureus (Bet Now: $2.35) is three weeks between runs for the Brian Wakefield camp since resuming at Ipswich where he got back in the run and couldn’t come wide, so was stayed towards the inside and he was good late without much luck behind Desert Lord. Fitter, at Doomben, he’ll take beating.

9 Ziemba (Bet Now: $3.90) is a Rob Heathcoate trained four year old that was specked at a price when resuming at Ipswich three weeks back and the move was proven somewhat correct with a strong third to Desert Lord. Had his chance but still a definite pass mark. Leading contender.

Fitter and down in weight are two big ticks for 16 Racing Paradise (Bet Now: $19.00). He was a tick under two months between runs when racing over 1400m at Eagle Farm. He attempted to lead throughout and gave a solid kick but condition just ran out late. He’ll take improvement off that and be stronger late.

7 Kingston’s Here (Bet Now: $2.05) has done little wrong in two runs this time in. Justified a short quote when spanking them fresh at the Gold Coast in a maiden. Then went to Eagle Farm two weeks ago where he was heavily backed. Loomed to win but was nabbed late by Garoppolo. A rise to 1350m is ideal, he’s got upside and in a leading stable.

1 Fleet Dove (Bet Now: $9.00) looks the one to beat on exposed form. Has been close up at her past couple, both of which at Stakes level, the latest being a close up fourth in the Gai Waterhouse behind Lillemor. Good record at Doomben and back to her own age, she appeals big time.

Getting back to a bigger track should help the cause of 6 Safework (Bet Now: $10.00). Good in defeat two back at Eagle Farm in a QTIS race won by Tumbler Ridge. Then went to Ipswich and I don’t think he handled the tight track, but still far from disgraced. Is a track/distance winner and can bounce back.

LONG SHOT: Race Six Number 4 One For Betty
