An outstanding nine race card has been assembled for Warwick Farm on Saturday, where the highlight will be the clash between She Will Reign and Nature Strip in the Inglis Sprint (1100m). The weather is fine, the track is soft (5) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.
Race 1. (12:45) Thoroughbred Breeders NSW Lonhro Plate 1100m
1 Satin Slipper (Bet Now: $3.20) does look the way to go here. Very talented filly for the Snowden camp that is first up here. Hasn’t raced since debuting with a strong win in the Gimcrack and the form out of that has been great, namely with Fiesta last Saturday. Two trials leading in have been very good and can’t go away from her.
4 Osorno (Bet Now: $5.00) is a Godolphin colt who was solid in the Breeders Plate before being tipped out. He resumed at Rosehill two weeks ago and was a unlucky not to finish closer when third to Sizzling Belle, getting held up a touch in the straight when appearing to have plenty to offer. Looks well placed to go close.
Not so much a long shot but 8 Oxford Tycoon (Bet Now: $5.50) is the watch horse for mine in a race with not many winning hopes. Kim Waugh trained son of Written Tycoon that is on debut here. First trial saw him beat Satin Slipper before bolting up to win an 800m Wyong trial last week. Looks a ready made two year old and I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t run well on debut against this lot.
Race 2. (13:25) Davali Thorougbreds Cup (84) 2400m
1 Gamblestown (Bet Now: $6.00) is on the seven day back up for the Joe Pride team after racing at Rosehill last Saturday where he chased very hard down the straight but couldn’t quite reel in the well backed High Opinion. He is absolutely bursting to win a race and I think he gets a great chance here up in trip on his home track.
4 Xebec (Bet Now: $3.60) is three weeks between runs for the Chris Waller team since racing at Randwick where he got back near last in an absolute crawl and the bias was against him as those near the speed/rail were seriously advantaged. Did a good job to get as close as he did, and that form was well and truly franked last Saturday. Definite threat.
7 Chatelard (Bet Now: $5.00) is a Chris Waller trained stayer who is on the rise and now he should be just about at peak fitness. He comes through the race Carzoff won at Randwick back on January 20 and I thought his effort was tidy after attempting to lead all the way, something which isn’t his go I feel. Better with cover, so hopefully that eventuates.
Race 3. (14:00) Inglis Sprint 1100m
3 She Will Reign (Bet Now: $1.30) for me here. She’s the best horse in the race and despite being first up with bigger fish to fry, I think her brilliance and the fact she is on her home track leads me to lean her way. Trials leading in have been great, she looks to have really filled out during the break and 1100m fresh looks ideal.
7 Limbo Soul (Bet Now: $6.00) looks the only horse capable of causing the massive upset. Hasn’t raced for near 11 months. Debuted with a stunning win at Rosehill before being backed off the map in the Magic Night where she ran down the track behind Tulip. Been given two quiet trials to prepare, if the money comes late, I’d be very wary.
Interested to see how 1 Diamond Tathagata (Bet Now: $27.00) resumes. Did nothing in the Spring but in saying that he did contest three high class races. Haven’t minded the way he has trialled leading and from the inside draw, you’d like to think he’ll sit in the first half of the field. Doubt he wins, but one for multiples.
Race 4. (14:35) TAB Highway Handicap (Class 3) 1200m
Better suited over slightly further, but I think class may just get 1 My Tagosan (Bet Now: $16.00) home. Talented galloper for the Rod Northam team with an eye on the Country Championships but I think he can go close here fresh. Hasn’t raced since the Highway Consolation at Randwick when down the track behind Don’t Give A Damn. Looked sharp in a recent Muswellbrook trial behind Suncraze.
16 El Mo (Bet Now: $5.50) was six weeks between runs for the Danny Williams camp when racing in an 1100m Highway at Rosehill a fortnight back where he tried very hard but had to duck and weave through the field while the winner The Lion had clear and produced an outstanding turn of foot to win. 1200m and the run under the belt now points to him running a beauty.
2 Forever Newyork (Bet Now: $23.00) is a talented son of Manhattan Rain first up for the astute Gary Colvin team. This bloke hasn’t raced since December 9 when a close up third to Magic Choir in a Highway at Randwick. Has his eyes on the Country Championships but looks forward enough to run a good race first up.
Race 5. (15:10) 2018 Inglis Classic 1200m
1 Sanctimonius (Bet Now: $3.30) is on the quick back up for the Tony McEvoy team after racing under the lights at Moonee Valley last Friday night where he did a bit wrong in the run but he proved far too good and won with plenty in reserve to the eye. Good sign that the stable quickly backs him up and sends him interstate. Finds a very winnable race.
6 Pembroke Castle (Bet Now: $6.50) is a nice looking colt for the Chris Waller yard who resumed three weeks ago at Rosehill where he was hard in the market off an impressive trial but not much went right for him in the run and the run was somewhat inconclusive behind Sizzling Belle. Trial was too good to dismiss off one run.
11 Snicki Minaj (Bet Now: $7.50) is a talented filly for the Tony Gollan team who is three weeks between runs since defying an alarming betting drift and absolutely bolting in to win over the Doomben 1110m under Brad Stewart. Avdulla takes over and I think he’ll take the race on immediately and look to come over from the wide gate.
Race 6. (15:45) Aquis Farm Eskimo Prince Stakes 1200m
Just going to side with 3 Siege Of Quebec (Bet Now: $3.70), purely because he has the run under the belt. It was an ugly watch a fortnight back when resuming at Rosehill but he still was able to rattle off an outstanding final 600m despite being off the bit a fair way out and doing plenty wrong. Happy to be with him in a ripping event.
5 Assimilate (Bet Now: $8.00) is a high class colt that resumes for Team Snowden. This bloke hasn’t raced since the Golden Rose when giving away a huge start and working home well without threatening Trapeze Artist. Just the one soft trial leading in, so not sure how forward he will be for this race, but his class will carry him a long way.
8 Lord Cecil (Bet Now: $16.00) is a talented son of Animal Kingdom that resumes for the Paul Messara yard. This bloke dodged the Spring Carnival after a pretty full on Winter prep, where he ended it with an eye catching sixth behind Capital Gain in the JJ Atkins. Given the good break and his Muswellbrook trial behind Suncraze was outstanding to the eye and run in fast time. Definite watch.
Race 7. (16:25) Yarraman Park Breeders Classic 1200m
2 Egyptian Symbol (Bet Now: $3.10) is a high class mare in her own right. This one is trained by Bjorn Baker, who comes through the Magic Millions Sprint, where she was a little unlucky but was never going to win when third to star mare Viddora. I reckon a hard 1200m at this level sees her out, so that is the query, but she is explosive and looked sharp in a Warwick Farm jump out last week.
4 Bonny O’Reilly (Bet Now: $3.10) is a quality mare for Bjorn Baker that is first up here. This girl hasn’t raced since Everest Day when getting back on a leaders track in the Sydney Stakes behind In Her Time. Her two trials leading in have been very good and she is a bomb when produced fresh. First look at her home track also which is interesting.
5 Slightly Sweet (Bet Now: $19.00) is a Jason Coyle trained mare that resumes. This girl dodged the Spring after a pretty brutal Winter campaign where she contested most of the features during the Sydney Winter and ran well without winning. Been brought up to fitness with two trials and to my eye she’s forward enough to run well.
Race 8. (17:05) Bowness Stud Mile 1600m
4 Show A Star (Bet Now: $1.95) on top for me in a tricky open handicap. Bjorn Baker trains this bloke who was well backed when racing over 1500m at Rosehill a fortnight back and the bets landed with Overmeire taking the bull by the horns, rolling forward to get the front, control things and kick very hard when required. First look at the home track, but maps super again and can only improve.
1 Supply And Demand (Bet Now: $2.90) hasn’t raced for four weeks since racing over the Randwick mile when finishing a tiring fourth behind the flying miler Dreamforce. Bit down on confidence but got it back up via a strong trial win at Randwick last week. Good record at Warwick Farm too so I’m giving him serious respect.
3 Auvray (Bet Now: $23.00) is a Richard Freedman trained stayer who is first up here. This bloke hasn’t raced since the Moonee Valley Cup when finishing down the track behind Who Shot Thebarman, with the rock hard surface being slightly against him. Whatever he does here, he will improve on, but he does have class on his side and always be wary of these stayers fresh.
Race 9. (17:45) Sledmere Stud Dash (95) 1000m
Gee 9 Fickle Folly (Bet Now: $3.80) is well weighted here for mine. This mare hasn’t raced for five weeks since racing over 1000m at Randwick where she sat on speed and tried very hard when a close up third to Burradoo. Break between runs should do her the world of good and hopefully she can get cover from the draw.
2 Dal Cielo (Bet Now: $5.00) is a quality sprinter that resumes for the Kris Lees team. He is a horse who does tend to save his best for early on in a prep and that would appear the case again this time in off the back of a couple of very encouraging trial efforts at Wyong and Gosford respectively, winning the latter. Won his lone start here at the track/distance fresh too.
6 Echo Effect (Bet Now: $5.50) is a talented son of Reset for the Kristen Buchanan team that is first up. On his best form, he’d prove far too good for this lot but it’s just a matter of knowing or gambling on which version turns up. Given a quiet trial last week here behind Dissolute but he is a bomb when produced fresh.
