1/4/2024 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Ipswich, Easter Monday races

7 Caesar Cake (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top but not really a race i want to get involved in. Gillian Heinrich trained mare that looks ready to win, with her last run coming over 2000m at Gatton when back and closing off with purpose when second to Tavieslass. Racing like 2150m will suit and this doesn’t appear to be an overly deep contest.

5 Subaqua (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the one with less convictions than most and looks a coming maiden winner. Good return at the Sunny Coast when third before going to 2000m at Toowoomba where the market said he was ready to go and drove hard, but just couldn’t quite get there. 2150m is no issue, he’s hard fit now…clearly appeals.

8 In The Picture (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran third in the 2000m Toowoomba maiden mentioned above, where she got off the speed and found the line well enough without threatening, and that run followed a run in the Gatton maiden mentioned above where she was just fair. Knockout hope at best.

5 Toro Strike (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should be taking care of this lot. Stuart Kendrick trained juvenile that is on debut off the back of an electric trial win over 850m at the Sunny Coast on wet ground where he led throughout and won impressively, seemingly with plenty in hand. He’s a good mover, he’ll land on speed and I think will be too good.

6 Astin Lane (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. Mick Nolan trains this Vancouver filly that had two trials in the Spring and looked a leading contender for the Pat O’Shea but after the second trial was spelled. She has come back without a trial but I’d watch the market and see what it does, but off her trials in the Spring, she has talent.

2 Bourne Ready (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a market watch. Brenton Andrew trained juvenile that resumes after one run in the Spring at the Sunny Coast where he got back and was never really a factor. He has Blinkers on for the return and has been gelded so there is enough there I think to say he will improve, and draws soft.

5 Evelyn’s Joy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a pretty sharp filly for Billy Healey. She debuted at this track/distance where she showed dazzling early speed to lead and she gave nothing else a look in, winning quite impressively from the front. Gets the same set up again, she looks the leader and I think she’ll be too good again. Keen.

3 Dawyn’s Choice (Bet Now:  $SP.00) commands respect. She too won at the track/distance on debut. Her win had good merit given she drew wide but she produced blistering speed from the gate and by a space in a very sharp display. Not sure she can cross Evelyn’s Joy but she will be there and fighting.

9 On The Target (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of Golden Archer for Pat Duff that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since Sep 7 when down the track over 800m at Gatton but he was sitting wide throughout. Can sprint well fresh and his recent trial wasn’t a bad piece of work.

4 Salamancas (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks ready to rock and roll for David Vandyke. This guy resumes, having not raced since the Spring where he had a two run prep and was solid each time, with the form out of the second race being strong. He jogged in a recent Deagon trial and could have bolted in had he been let go. Orman rode in that trial and he sticks here.

10 Whiskey Tower (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a stablemate of Salamancas that is on debut. She trialled at Deagon over 1200m where she was ridden out and I didn’t mind the way she moved late in the piece when second, moving well enough despite being beaten eight lengths. She will be strong at the end of 1350m and stable can get them ready for a debut.

7 She Delivers (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an improver at odds. She debuted at Doomben a few weeks back where she got back off the speed and was never really a factor, finishing down the track in a plain debut. I thought her trial leading in was solid enough and she does have the Gollan polish so don’t pen her.

2 Martedi (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks hard to beat for the Doughty camp. He ran over the mile at Doomben last time where the barrier trial tempo was not to his liking but he was still solid enough in defeat I thought behind Commodus, who had complete control in front and was too good. That form does read well for a race like this.

7 Quest Of Quests (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has a good track/distance record and won’t mind juice in the track. He ran over the mile at Beaudesert last start where he seemingly got into a decent spot near the speed but couldn’t quite finish the race off and was a bit on the plain side behind Reel Wild. Back to where he races best, he can bounce back.

8 Who Ordered Dafish (Bet Now:  $SP.00) won on a heavy track in his lone career win so that is his saving grace. He ran last Saturday at Eagle Farm and just forget he went around, getting badly hampered by a riderless horse and pretty much went around like it was a barrier trial. He can take this out for sure.

2 Xpresso (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks ready to go first up. David Vandyke trained gelding that resumes, having his first run for the stable after formerly being with Nathan Doyle. He is a Saturday class horse when right and his trial work to get ready has been very good. Tricky draw, but will press forward and with class, I think he returns with a win.

3 Alamira (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Pride Of Dubai mare for Jack Bruce that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since the Grafton Carnival in July last year when winning over 1400m, beating a nice horse in Wealthy Investor. Can sprint well fresh, likes Ipswich and will be strong at the end.

4 Oakfield Duke (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will appreciate a fast run 1100m. He ran at Grafton last time where he got a fair way out of his ground and spotted those in front a big start but I really liked the way he found the line. If he can settle closer, he’ll take holding out.

3 Talk Time (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a great bet in the get out. Lindsay Hatch trained gelding that resumed over 1200m at the Gold Coast where he got back to near last in the run and given the pattern was against him, I thought his finale was outstanding behind This Is One, one of the better runs of the meeting. If the inside gate can be used to advantage, he’ll take holding out.

8 Flying Birds (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should be around the mark. This gelding ran over this track/distance last time out where he got back off the speed and kept finding the line in a really good effort when second to Daedalus. He won’t mind give in the track and he only has to hold his form to be around the mark.

12 Jac The Great (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an Eric Hayes trained mare that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since Nov 23 here over this trip when back in the run and was never a threat behind Spicy Legend. Resumes without a public trial but can sprint well fresh and can handle wet ground.

NEXT BEST: Race Three Number 5 Evelyn’s Joy

LONG SHOT: Race Five Number 2 Martedi
