Coolmore has set a new benchmark in the Australian stallion market with Tom Magnier confirming that Wootton Bassett will stand for a record $385,000 (inc GST) in 2025.
The shuttle stallion has already made an impression Down Under, siring eight winners from his debut Australian crop. His Northern Hemisphere progeny include four Group 1 winners from his first European-conceived crop at Coolmore.
“He’s standing at 350,000 dollars this year, and we’re hoping now to send our best mares to him,” Magnier said at the Inglis Chairman’s Sale.
“It’s great that we can get him back. Having a stallion like that gives you the confidence to go out with our partners and try and find the best mares for him now.
“We’re very fortunate to have a stallion like him. There’s been some great inquiries from the best mare owners in the country.”
Among the elite mares earmarked for him is Tiz Invincible, who Magnier purchased for $2.8 million during the Chairman’s Sale.
Wootton Bassett’s fee surpasses the previous Australian record of $330,000, which was jointly held by Redoute’s Choice and Extreme Choice. He stood for $93,500 prior to last year’s unlisted fee season.
