Tasracing has announced a significant boost to its TasBred scheme, unveiling an additional $1 million in funding and a range of new initiatives designed to strengthen Tasmania’s local thoroughbred industry.
From November 1, the TasBred prize money pool will rise to $2.15 million, with a $20,000 bonus to be attached to every eligible race. The bonuses will apply to all two and three-year-old handicaps, selected maiden and class one contests, as well as chosen feature events across the state.
In a further incentive for owners and breeders, Tasracing confirmed that age restrictions on horses would be lifted, meaning any maiden winner registered with TasBred will qualify for the lucrative bonus. Dedicated TasBred maiden races will also be added to the program and featured on major race days throughout the season.
The expanded scheme aims to encourage greater reinvestment in Tasmania’s bloodstock and reward participants for supporting the state’s racing industry.
