Dante winner Golden Horn will take his place in the Epsom Derby with owner Anthony Oppenheimer to pay the late entry fee.
Trainer John Gosden said all going well, Golden Horn would head to the Derby at a cost of STG75,000 ($A145,602).
The French Derby over 10 furlongs (2000m) had been considered the more likely target before the Dante performance of the Cape Cross colt which beat stablemate and pre-race Derby favourite Jack Hobbs.
“Quite correctly, he wanted to wait to see how the horse came out of the race. But I’m very happy,” Gosden told the Guardian.
“That (supplementing) will be the decision, we will go ahead and supplement the horse.
“Obviously, we don’t do that until five days before the race, so, as long as everything’s all right then and everything’s in order, we are planning to run the horse.”
“As long as he switches off, he should get the trip well.”
