Frankel is among just 17 horses left at the latest confirmation stakes for the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood on August 1.
Sir Henry Cecil’s unbeaten superstar produced one of his best efforts when he swept clear of Canford Cliffs in last year’s Sussex and will be long odds-on for what is scheduled to be his next start.
Excelebration, who has now been beaten five times by Frankel, is one of his best possible opponents while trainer Aidan O’Brien has also kept Maybe, Ishvana, Requisition, Reply, Power and Daddy Long Legs in the field.
Richard Hannon’s Strong Suit and Trumpet Major are other leading horses to remain in the race along with Foxtrot Romeo and Planteur while Cecil can also run Chachamaidee and Frankel’s pacemaker and lead horse Bullet Train.
Supplementary entries can still be made by July 26.
