Eleven races have been set down for Sha Tin this Saturday, with good depth across the program.

Race 1. (18:00) The Purves Quaich Griffin Plate 1200m
4 Motor (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is knocking on the door to get the win on the board and I think he gets a great chance here. He ran three weeks ago in the Griffin Plate over 1000m here when off speed and kept finding the line in a pretty good effort in defeat behind The All Out. Like him up to 1200m and there isn’t a whole lot of depth to this line up.
1 Light Years Glory (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has to be one of the hardest to beat after a track/distance debut win on May 25 when giving them a start and a beating, letting down with good change up speed to win and win well. Tick over trial was good and he has the 1200m lead in under the belt.
7 Alabama Song (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes through The All Out race from three weeks back mentioned above. He got off speed and was raw/new to the caper but was far from disgraced in defeat. Better for the run and up to 1200m, he’s in with a shout.
Race 2. (18:30) The Swaine Cup (Class 5) 1200m
12 Flying Phantom (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the one to beat IMO. John Size trained gelding that ran over thisn track/distance four weeks ago when off speed and kept chasing in a pretty good effort in defeat when fourth to Ruby Sailing. Purton takes over and with headgear applied again, he’s hard to beat.
1 Gimme Five (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a son of Swiss Ace for Frankie Lor that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since April 23 when off speed over 1200m at Happy Valley and kept finding the line in defeat when a close up third to Winning Heart. Trial work has been strong and this isn’t a deep contest.
6 Lucky Generations (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes back to 1200m after racing over 1400m here. He got back off the speed and while he was never a winning threat, he kept finding the line and was pretty good in defeat. He’ll likely get back again but if he gets a drag into the race, he’ll be strongest late.
Race 3. (19:00) The Wong Cup (Class 4) 1200m
1 Mr Energia (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) on top for me. He is a few weeks between runs since racing over this track/distance where he got a fair way out of his ground but really liked the way he closed his race off in defeat behind Mojave Desert. That form reads well and he gets Purton aboard.
2 Fashion Legend (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after a win here last Saturday over the mile, giving them a start and a beating in an impressive performance. Loses Purton, but he will be strong late and has found winning form. One of the leading contenders.
6 Magniac (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) ran over this track/distance a few weeks ago. He got off speed and was never a factor but that said, was far from disgraced in defeat. Not sure he is a horse I could back to win but for wider exotics, he can be entertained.
Race 4. (19:30) The Li Cup (Class 5) 1600m
1 Beautiful Win (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) will take beating from the front. He attempted to lead throughout a few weeks ago at this track/distance and gave a strong kick from the front but just couldn’t quite see it through when a narrow second to Smart Beauty. Tricky draw, but will press forward and I am sure will be around the mark.
6 Apolar Fighter (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is one of the key prospects. He ran over this track/distance last time when off speed and kept chasing in a pretty good effort in defeat I thought behind Smart Beauty. If he can settle closer and be within range, he has the finale to score.
3 Phantom Cyclone (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes back to Sha Tin after racing over the mile at Happy Valley last time. He got back in the run and wasn’t too bad in defeat despite never really being a winning threat. He is a first four contender at odds.
Race 5. (20:00) The Arculli Trophy (Class 4) 1200m
1 Lucky Symphony (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the way I am leaning. Jamie Richards trained gelding that was a model of consistency before a plain effort last time after getting a decent run in transit. Tick over trial was a pretty good piece of work and prior form suggests he can take this out.
11 Club Ace (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a threat with his best. His recent runs have come at this track/distance, the latest seeing him finish down the track behind Lucky My Way. Tick over trial was pretty good I thought and a good lead that Purton steers.
8 Spicy Spangle (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has won at the track/distance previously so 1200m being a query, he’s in with a shout despite recent runs being over 1000m, the latest at Happy Valley when on speed and just felt the pinch late. Good racing style, he’s dangerous at odds.
Race 6. (20:30) The Chan Trophy (Class 4) 1400m
4 Endued (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) doesn’t have the best of racing patterns but he is a nice horse I think who has an engine under the hood. He ran over this track/distance a few weeks ago where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, I liked the way he closed his race off in defeat. If within range, he has the finale to win.
12 Colourful Winner (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is knocking on the door. He is five weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance. He did work to land on speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through when a narrow second to Star Satyr. Tricky gate to overcome, but he looks to be nearing a win.
1 California Bay (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes back to 1400m after racing over the mile here on June 22. He landed near the speed and was gallant in defeat but just couldn’t quite see it through. Like him back in trip and with a good racing style, appeals.
Race 7. (21:05) The Stevenson Cup (Class 4) 1200m
2 Szeryng (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has found that winning feeling and he can go on with it after winning over this track/distance two weeks ago, getting a beaut run in transit before angling clear and finished best to score. That was his first look at Sha Tin and was impressiver so with that in mind, is hard to beat.
3 Tourbillon Golfer (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since a runner up effort on debut at this track/distance. He attempted to lead throughout and gave a strong kick from the front but just couldn’t quite see it through, tiring late and was nabbed near the peg. Good racing style, he takes beating.
8 Team Team Folks (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is four weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance. He got back in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he kept finding the line and was pretty good in defeat despite never being a threat. If within range, I think he has the finale to threaten.
Race 8. (21:35) The Ip Jug Handicap (Class 4) 1800m
3 Fortune Boy (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the straight bat play. He ran over the mile here two weeks ago, his first run in seven weeks, and he tried his guts out but just couldn’t quite see it through when second to Mister Dapper. Better for the run, kind map, I say he takes beating here and is one of the better bets on the card.
9 Celestial Patch (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is back at Sha Tin after recent runs at Happy Valley where he has got back and found the line well in defeat when fourth. Like the rise to 1800m for him and if he can settle closer in the run, he’s a threat for sure.
2 Beauty Viva (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is several weeks between runs since racing over 2200m at Happy Valley where he got too far out of his ground and made up minor headway without threatening. Not sure he is a horse I could back to win but is one for exotics.
Race 9. (22:05) The Chow Silver Plate (Class 3) 1200m
6 Magnifique (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the winner if he is here meaning business, and the trials indicate he is. He resumes after a below par run here on March 23 behind Invincible Shield. Given a good break, his trial work has been outstanding, I say he is the winner, all things being equal.
3 Lifeline Express (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is four weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance. He got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up headway and wasn’t too bad in defeat I thought. Prior efforts were sound so I am not dismissing him.
8 Akashvani (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is dangerous with his best. He ran over 1400m here on May 25 where he tried hard but I just reckon 1400m at this level found him out and he felt the pinch late. Back to 1200m with fresh legs, good racign style, he appeals as a knockout hope.
Race 10. (22:40) The Philip Chen Trophy (Class 2) 1200m
5 Colourful King (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has to stretch his brilliane to 1200m but I think he’ll be fine and is hard to beat. His recent runs have come over 1000m at Happy Valley, working home strongly from off the speed when second to Kaholo Angel. The query is 1200m, but loved his recent trial and for mine, he’ll eat up six furlongs.
4 Masterofmyuniverse (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the one to beat on current form. He has a fab track/distance record and commands respect, his latest win being at the set up on May 31 when giving them a start and a beating. Tick over trial was strong, he is the one on form. But may be too short.
9 Harmony N Blessed (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a must for exotics. He lacks the class/quality of some of these but has a very genuine racing style. He ran over this track/distance last time when near the speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite see it through. First four contender.
Race 11. (23:15) The Chairmen's Day Handicap (Class 3) 1400m
8 Endeared (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) each way for me in the get out. He is three weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance. He got into a decent spot off the speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through when fourth to Patch Of Stars. Tick over trial was good and despite the gate, I think he’ll get a drag into the race and launch late.
4 Solid Shalaa (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is flying for David Hayes and has to be respected after two wins on the bounce, the latest win being on May 18 at this track/distance, giving them a start and a beating in an impressive performance. Tick over trial work since has been strong and 1400m should be fine.
2 Helene Warrior (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Danny Shum trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since March 15 at this track/distance when down the track behind a potential Stakes class of the future, Juneau Pride. Trialled well enough and can sprint well fresh so watch betting.
