A bumper card of racing has been set down for Meydan on Saturday night, headlined by the Dubai World Cup (2000m).

Race 1. Dubai Kahayla Classic 2000m
10 Read Lembarak (Bet Now: $SP.00) each way for me in the opener. Model of consistency before going to the Al Maktoum Challenge at this track/distance when off speed and held up but really liked the way he finished his race off in defeat when third to Falaah. Draws to settle closer in the run and will be strong late.
6 Falaah (Bet Now: $SP.00) was a big winner of the race mentioned above. He was wide throughout but sustained the run and was actually pretty strong to the line in winning. Tricky draw once again but he showed last start he can work and still be effective late.
13 Rb Motherload (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one for multiples. He had the suck run in behind the speed but was one of the first off the bit. That said, I thought he stuck on really well when fourth. Not sure he wins but a must for exotics.
Race 2. Godolphin Mile 1600m
1 Commissioner King (Bet Now: $SP.00) is flying and has to be top seed. He is four weeks between runs since a track/distance win where he won by a space and was quite dominant in the run to the line. Looks to be in career best form and with gate one, he’s the one to beat.
3 Mendellsohn Bay (Bet Now: $SP.00) was on trial for the Dubai World Cup but after failing over 2000m last start, he has been freshened up for the mile. He ran in the Al Maktoum last start and didn’t fire a shot, seemingly failing to run the trip out so like him back to 1600m and maps to get a sweet run in transit.
4 Generous Tipper (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes back to the mile as well after racing in the Al Maktoum. He ran an honest race in defeat when fourth to Meydaan but was never really threatening. Looks better suited at the mile. Just needs luck from the draw.
Race 3. Dubai Gold Cup 3200m
If 1 Al Riffa (Bet Now: $SP.00) is ready to go, he has lengths on this field, surely. He hasn’t raced since the Hong Kong Vase where he ran a very credible fourth after a testing effort in the Melbourne Cup. He is a high class elite stayer and compared to recent years, the 2026 edition of this race is on the thin side.
6 Sunway (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a key threat. He is a few weeks between runs since racing over 2800m in the Al Sheba where he led and gave a good sight on speed but just felt the pinch late when second. 3200m is a slight query but with front end control, he takes running down.
3 Dubai Future (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. He won this race last year before heading to the UK where he ended the year with a down the track effort in the Lonsdale Cup during the Ebor Festival at York. Fresh into this race, local hope, you’d say he’s well and truly here to play.
Race 4. UAE Derby 1900m
Hard to get away from 1 Pyromancer (Bet Now: $SP.00). 3/3 in Japan, the latest at Group l level at Kawasaki before being spelled. First up here but from what I have seen, he has worked very well in recent times to prepare for this and despite the tricky gate, he’s the one to beat.
3 Six Speed (Bet Now: $SP.00) is right in the mix. He won the 2000 Guineas over the mile here last time, leading throughout and he gave nothing else a look in to win in quite dominant fashion. If he handles the rise to 1900m, he’ll take holding out.
2 Wonder Dean (Bet Now: $SP.00) is in the mix. He did nice things without winning in Japan. He resumed in the Saudi Derby and kept finding the line in defeat when fourth. Better for the run, he looks talented and is certainly in the mix.
Race 5. Al Quoz Sprint 1200m
1 Lazzat (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be winning this if he brings his best. He resumed in the Turf Sprint at Riyadh when on speed and gave a very strong kick from the front but just couldn’t quite see it through and was nabbed late. Better for the run, good racing style and has a clear class edge IMO.
2 Reef Runner (Bet Now: $SP.00) won the Turf Sprint at Riyadh. I really liked the way he knuckled down late when asked for the big effort to surge late and get the job done. He’s got good upside/improvement to come and will be strong late.
4 Khaadem (Bet Now: $SP.00) is getting on in years but maintains a healthy zest for racing. He last raced in the Hong Kong Sprint when outclassed and never a factor behind Ka Ying Rising. He does tend to race well on the fresh side and this looks more within reach.
Race 6. Dubai Golden Shaheen 1200m
1 Bentonarto (Bet Now: $SP.00) seems the straight bat play. Star US sprinter that hasn’t raced since the Breeders Cup Sprint where he led throughout and gave nothing else a look in, winning quite impressively. Looks to be working really well for the return, he’ll land on speed and take a power of running down.
4 El Nasseeb (Bet Now: $SP.00) has been impressive during the Meydan season and is the key threat. Impressive last start track/distance win, giving them a start and a beating, getting better as the race went on to win and win well. Flying and commands respect.
10 Mufasa (Bet Now: $SP.00) ran third behind El Nasseeb in the race mentioned above. He was slow away and got back to near last in the run. He was never a winning threat but I did like the way he finished his race off in defeat. If he can jump clean and be within range, he’ll take holding out.
Race 7. Dubai Turf 1800m
1 Ombudsman (Bet Now: $SP.00) is short enough but there is a reason for that. He is a star galloper and all things being equal, he should be making a mess of these. His last run came in the UK Champion Stakes in October at Ascot when a game second. This looks a much inferior race…just needs to turn up somewhere near his best and he’ll be winning.
2 Gala Force (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks the pick of the rest. Japanese star that resumes at 1800m, with his last run coming late last year when a close up second in the Mile Championship at Kyoto. 1800m is a slight query but you always have to respect the Japanese when they come over.
6 Fort George (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes back to 1800m after racing over 2400m in the Dubai City Of Gold when near the speed throughout and he did try hard but couldn’t quite see it through when second. Back in trip looks fine…doubt he wins but can run first four.
Race 8. Dubai Sheema Classic 2410m
1 Calandagan (Bet Now: $SP.00) is regarded as the best 2000m+ horse in the world and with that, this race has really fallen away, so he looks the most obvious. He hasn’t been seen since scoring an electrifying win in the Tokyo Cup when giving them a start and a beating. He should be too good for this lot to kick off what should be a massive 2026.
2 Ethical Diamond (Bet Now: $SP.00) wouldn’t have looked out of place in the Melbourne Cup. His win in the Breeders Cup Turf was extraordinary, the way he gave them a start and a beating, and how impressive he was. I highly doubt he beats Calandagan but something has to run second.
3 Giavellotto (Bet Now: $SP.00) likely runs third. He ran a narrow second in the Hong Kong Vase before resuming at Doha when second after sitting back and being outsprinted. Better for the run…he’ll run well but doubt he wins.
Race 9. Dubai World Cup 2000m
1 Forever Young (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the best dirt horse in the world and is certainly in the conversation as greatest ever. He made a mess of them in the Saudi Cup, getting better as the race went on with class really coming to the fore late. I think that said class will come to the fore once again and he should be miles too good.
4 Meydaan (Bet Now: $SP.00)…the shiver goes up the spine because of the Caulfield Cup. But, his win in the Al Maktoum was breathtaking, the way he dismantled them and was so dominant late. He’s not Romantic Warrior but he will run a very positive race.
3 Hit Show (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a quality dirt horse from America that comes here off the back of an impressive win in the Mineshaft at Fair Grounds. Narrow win but loved the way he knuckled down late when asked for the effort. Good test here but he can run top 3/4.
