Nine races have been set down for Happy Valley on Wednesday night with good depth across the program.

Race 1. (20:40) Chester Handicap (Class 5) 1200m
5 Ragnarr (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a few weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance. He got back off the speed and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up headway late in the piece behind Wood On Fire. Has a gate to settle much closer in the run and be effective late.
4 Modest Gentleman (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has a good record at Happy Valley and returning here, he appeals. His latest run came over 1200m at Sha Tin when just off the speed and was held up at times but when eventually clear, he was good late when third. Tricky gate, but he does love racing here and appeals.
3 Togepi (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs, having not raced since May 4 at Sha Tin over 1200m when back in the run and made up no headway when down the track behind Circuit Victory. Has a gate to settle much closer in the run and his best is good enough.
Race 2. (21:10) Hereford Handicap (Class 4) 1200m
4 Monarch County (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes back to 1200m after racing over 1400m at Sha Tin where he got off speed and while he was never threatening, he kept chasing and was pretty good in defeat. Back to a fast run 1200m, Blinkers on first time, he appeals.
5 My Day My Way (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) will land on speed and take running down, as seen on May 28 here. He attempted to lead throughout and he gave a strong kick from the front but just couldn’t quite see it through when second to Young Arrow. Good racing style, he appeals.
1 Charming Babe (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) hasn’t fired a shot in some time but dropping back to Class 4 grade, he can run a much improved race. His latest run was May 31 at Sha Tin when outclassed on paper and ran accordingly behind Masterofmyuniverse. Back to this level, he is an improver at odds.
Race 3. (21:40) Hereford Handicap (Class 4) 1200m
10 Vulcanus (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is racing well without winning but I think that can change that here. He ran second over this track/distance three weeks ago when getting a decent run in transit near the speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through when second to impressive winner Mega Bonus. Maps ideally, in form, rates highly for me.
1 Fun Elite (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) steps up to 1200m and comes to Happy Valley after racing over 1000m down the straight at Sha Tin. He got into a decent spot near the speed and was there to threaten but just whacked in the run to the line. Like him up in trip and strikes a winnable race.
6 Amazing Victory (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a few weeks between runs since racing over this trip at Sha Tin where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, I didn’t mind the way he finished his race off in defeat. He maps ideally and his best is clearly good enough.
Race 4. (22:10) Lancashire Handicap (Class 4) 1650m
5 Amazing Award (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has been a model of consistency and suspect that will continue here. He ran over this track/distance four weeks ago when getting off speed and worked home quite well late in the piece behind Sky Vino. Maps to get a sweet run in transit and seems the straight bat play.
1 Galaxy Witness (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) steps up to the mile after racing over 1200m here a fortnight back. He got a fair way back and while he was never threatening, he kept chasing and was pretty good late in the piece. The rise to the mile, I think, is okay, and this isn’t a deep contest.
9 Jubilant Winner (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is four weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance. He got back to near last in the run and made up decent headway late but was never really threatening. He’ll spot them a start but should be strong late.
Race 5. (22:40) The St George's Challenge Cup (Class 3) 1000m
2 Seasons Wit (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has found winning form and he can go on with it. That win came six weeks ago at this track/distance, giving them a start and a beating, getting better as the race went on was strong. Tick over trial was quite good and has a good speed in front to launch late.
9 Parent’s Love (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a short course specialist and appeals. He ran down the straight at Sha Tin just under three weeks ago when leading and he tried his guts out but just couldn’t quite see it through, feeling the pinch late behind Majestic Express. Good racing style and is right down in the weights after the claim.
5 Sports Legend (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes back to 1000m after racing over 1200m here where he led and gave a decent kick from the front but tired late when fifth to Gracious Express. Looks to land near the front here and back to 1000m is a big tick.
Race 6. (23:10) Hereford Handicap (Class 4) 1200m
3 Lahore (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks a good thing to my eye. He has had three career outings, all coming down the straight at Sha Tin. Latest saw him run third when near the speed and was there to win but just couldn’t quite get there. I think rising to 1200m, getting to a bending track, Purton sticks…all points to him I say.
6 Bits Superstar (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is four weeks between runs since a track/distance win, sitting on speed throughout and credit to him, he was there to be beaten but he found under pressure to fend them off and win. Lands near the front again and only runs well.
2 Never Too Soon (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) ran over this track/distance two weeks back where he got to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he kept finding the line and wasn’t too bad in defeat. Maps to settle much closer in the run and be effective late.
Race 7. (23:45) Lancashire Handicap (Class 4) 1650m
3 Wrote A New Page (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has got a win on the board and he can go on with it. Danny Shum trained gelding that is three weeks between runs since winning at this track/distance, giving them a start and a beating and getting better as the race went on. He’ll spot them a start but be strong and has that winning feeling.
6 Amazing Gaze (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a son of Wrote that is on debut. He has had extensive trial work to get ready for start one, with his two most recent trials being quite good to my eye, looking much better vs what was seen prior. On debut at the mile signals intent so watch betting.
4 Can’t Go Wong (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes back to the mile after racing over 1800m here last time. He got into a decent spot near the speed and tried hard but just lacked the finale to put them away when fourth. Not sure I could back him to win but is a must for exotics.
Race 8. (00:15) Renfrew Handicap (Class 3) 1650m
5 Hameron (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) each way for me. He ran over this track/distance four weeks ago where he got off speed and kept chasing but was never really a winning threat behind Jumbo Legend. I think he’ll be strong late and has the finale to win. Just depends what start he concedes.
1 Sky Trust (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance. He got into a decent spot in transit and was there to win. He loomed but had to settle for a third to Keefy. Tricky draw to overcome but hard to knock the way he’s racing at present.
4 Outgate (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs, having not raced since May 18 at Sha Tin over the mile when outclassed on paper and ran accordingly when down the track behind Winning Gold. Tick over trial was strong and despite the wide gate, his best is clearly good enough.
Race 9. (00:50) Selkirk Handicap (Class 3) 1200m
1 Storm Rider (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks a good thing to close the meeting. He was a dominant track/distance winner from three weeks ago. He got into a decent spot off speed before being clicked up by Purton and away he went to win and win quite impressively. Loses Purton but does get Bowman and maps perfect.
7 Dragon Four Seas (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) also comes here as a last start winner, that win being on May 21 at this track/distance. He got on speed relatively comfortably under Purton before being clicked up and away he went to win and win well, albeit the margin was narrow. Purton sticks…is that a lead?
5 Kyrus Dragon (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a David Hall trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since Feb 26 over this track/distance when off speed and chased strongly in a good effort in defeat behind Aurora Lady. He does sprint well fresh and his two trials to get ready have been strong.
