Nine races will be run and won at Sha Tin on Wednesday night, with good depth across the program.

4 General Smart (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the way I’m leaning in the opener but not really a race I want to get involved in. His last couple of runs have come over 1200m at Happy Valley, each time seeing him back near last and making up decent headway. If within range, I think he has the finale to finish over the top.

1 Exceed The Wish (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is five weeks between runs since racing over this trip at Happy Valley. He got into a decent spot in transit just off speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite finish the job. Tick over trial was pretty good and he strikes a winnable race.

6 Only U (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1200m after racing over 1400m here last start. He got back in the run and didn’t get the clearest of paths in the straight. He’ll be strong late. Just depends what sort of start he concedes.

1 Hailtothevictors (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top. He ran over 1800m here four weeks ago when off speed and kept chasing without really threatening. Tricky draw but do like him back to the mile and this race looks on the thin side.

7 Atomic Beauty (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran third in the race mentioned above, won by Foremost Teddy. He lobbed on speed and was there to put the race away but couldn’t quite finish off. Tricky draw but will press forward and be around the mark.

2 Courier Magic (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has run well at the track/distance previously and is dangerous despite the long run of outs. He ran six weeks back here when off speed and was never really threatening despite making up headway. Couldn’t back him to win but is one for exotics.

10 Speedy Smartie (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the straight bat play. His last couple of runs have come at this track/distance, running fourth two back before a solid second on New Years Day. Good racing style, will press forward and take beating against these.

2 Day Day Victory (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a few weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance. He attempted to lead throughout and gave a decent sight from the front but just felt the pinch late. He likely leads this field up and will only run well.

9 Incredible Moment (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1200m after attempting to lead throughout last Sunday over 1400m here. He led and tried hard but just felt the pinch. Like him back to 1200m and commands respect.

6 New Forest (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a dirt track specialist and despite rising to Class 2 company, he is quite clearly top seed. Latest run was Dec 27 at this track/distance, leading throughout and gave nothing else a look in. Looks the leader again and from the front, will take a power of beating.

3 Soleil Fighter (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a few weeks between runs since racing over the mile on the course proper when just off speed and tried hard but just lacked the killer blow. Maps ideally here, he’s a key threat.

1 Sword Point (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to the mile after racing over 2000m here several weeks back. He got into a decent spot in transit and tried hard but didn’t quite run the trip out. Doubt he wins but he can run first four.

1 Supreme Sea (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was an impressive debut winner at the track/distance and it’s hard to see him not making it 2/2. The debut win was impressive, proving quite strong to the line. Hard to get away from him I say.

2 Vulcanus (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a key threat after a fourth at this track/distance last start. He got back from a sticky gate and was forced quite wide on the turn when a closing fourth. Maps to settle much closer and be effective late.

5 Quick Money (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was a total forgive from this track/distance last start when wide no cover throughout and the hard run told. Better run in transit this time around, he’s dangerous at odds.

6 Forever Folks (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps up to 1800m after racing over the mile here last start where he got a mile out of his ground and while he was never really threatening, he did close off really well late in the piece when fourth. Like the rise in trip for him, Purton on and strikes a winnable race.

7 Serangoon (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1800m after racing over 2000m on New Years Day here. He got into a decent spot in transit just off speed and did try hard but he just couldn’t quite get there when fourth. Back in trip suits and despite the tricky gate, he commands respect.

11 Firefoot (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is hit and miss but is capable with his best. He last ran on Dec 17 at Happy Valley over this trip when on speed and felt the pinch late behind Young Bravo. Tick over trial was solid enough and maps to do no work.

4 Happy Universe (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should prove hard to beat for Jimmy Ting after racing over the mile on the course proper last start. He got off speed and worked home with purpose late when second to Endued. Just has to hold his form and he’s top seed.

6 Sight Dreamer (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is several weeks between runs since an all the way winner at this track/distance, leading throughout and giving nothing else a look in to win and win well. Tick over trial was solid, he has a good racing style and will look the winner for a long way.

1 Never Peter Out (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a dirt track specialist and is dangerous. He has been racing in Class 3 company to get the rating down to Class 4 and he’s here, back where he races best. Wasn’t too bad on New Years Day over 1200m, he’s a very interesting runner.

12 Armour War Eagle (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a good each way gamble here I say. He ran over this track/distance just under two weeks ago. He got back to near last in the run but worked home with real purpose in a pretty good effort in defeat I thought behind Young Emperor. He’ll spot them a start but will launch late.

2 Wonderstar (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps up to 1200m after racing over 1000m at Happy Valley a fortnight back. He sat on speed and I thought was there to put the race away but had to settle for a second to Love Together. Good racing style and 1200m should be fine.

4 Thunder Blaze (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. Former Irish galloper that makes his HK debut, having not raced since July when a winner at Leopardstown. Three solid trials under the belt, I’d say watch betting and see what it does.

4 Another World (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the way I am going in the get out. He is a few weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance. He got into a decent spot in transit near the speed and was there to win but couldn’t quite get there when third to dirt track specialist New Forest. Maps perfect and strikes a winnable race.

7 Super Unicorn (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has done his recent racing at Happy Valley and comes to Sha Tin in solid form. Put together a couple of wins on the bounce before a fourth to Happy Valley specialist A Americ Te Specso after doing early work. Tricky gate but commands respect.

3 Fallon (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes to Sha Tin after racing over this trip at Happy Valley on Dec 23 where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never really a winning threat, he kept chasing and was quite good late. His best is good enough to win so don’t dismiss.

BEST BET: Race Four Number 6 New Forest

NEXT BEST: Race Seven Number 4 Happy Universe

LONG SHOT: Race Eight Number 12 Armour War Eagle
