Race 1. (23:30) Norfolk Stakes 1006m
6 Force Noir (Bet Now: $7.50) on top in the Norfolk. He has been strong in two career outings, the latest seeing him romp up at Naas when on speed and trucking before being let go by Egan and he spanked them. Draws the right part of the track, he appeals each way.
3 Carry The Flag (Bet Now: $3.70) comes back to 1000m after racing over 1200m at Curragh. He landed on speed and tried his guts out but just couldn’t quite see it through when second to Great Barrier Reef, who earlier in the week to frank the form, so this guy is easy likeable in this race.
20 Fanshell Beach (Bet Now: $6.50) is a Wesley Ward trained filly that spanked them on debut at Churchill Downs, as does every of his juveniles before they come to Ascot. There was substance in her spank job win though and good tick for her is that the stable finds J Mac steers.
Race 2. (00:05) Hardwicke Stakes (Group 2) 2405m
I’m keen 6 Jen Brueghel (Bet Now: $6.50). I want to be very forgiving of his Coronation Cup run at Epsom because the track was very testing and he just couldn’t pick his feet up late when second to Bay City Roller. Firmer deck here, if there is petrol left in the tank, he’s a clear top seed.
5 Goliath (Bet Now: $4.40) is a rocket. It wasn’t a vintage field he beat at Chantilly last start but the arrogance of the win and the way he went about it was quite impressive. He’s a proven big time performer, he commands respect.
3 Ethical Diamond (Bet Now: $9.50) is a Willie Mullins trained gelding that resumes. He really came of age towards the end of last year, proving himself to be a world class horse on the turf with a win in the Breeders Cup. Total forgive in the Sheema at Meydan, he can run a beauty here.
Race 3. (00:05) Queen Elizabeth Ii Jubilee Stakes (Group 1) 1207m
The Aussies missed out on Tuesday in the King’s Stand but all things being equal, they make amends here via 17 Joliestar (Bet Now: $3.00). She has the mantle as it stands as the best sprinter in Australia after going 3/3 in the Autumn, two of those wins at Group l level. She is the best fresh horse in the world IMO and if she’s ready to go, which Waller no doubt would have her ready, then she is the winner.
14 Satono Reve (Bet Now: $3.60) looks the clear and I dare say only danger. I think you can make a case that he’s on the podium as the best sprinter in the world, whether it be second or third behind Ka Ying Rising. He has raced so well behind the champ at Sha Tin and ran so well in this race last year. He will take holding out.
8 Lake Forest (Bet Now: $6.50) is a very interesting runner. He could have run in the Queen Anne but has been kept to a sprint trip and will look to be strongest late. Impressive win last time over 1400m at Haydock, letting down strongly to score. He’ll spot them a start but motor late.
Race 4. (01:20) Jersey Stakes (Group 3) 1408m
Hard to get away from 12 Saber Strike (Bet Now: $2.15). 2/2 to start his career, winning on debut at Redcar before spelling. He resumed at Newmarket and was dynamic the way he gave them a start and a beating. He looks a potential star and see no reason why he can’t go 3/3.
17 The Prettiest Star (Bet Now: $8.00) comes back to 1400m after racing over the mile in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket. She sat off speed and tried hard but just lacked the killer finale when fourth to True Love. Form reads well and back to 1400m is ideal.
1 Dorset (Bet Now: $61.00) was down the track in the French 1000 Guineas. The track was on the shifty side and I don’t think she really appreciated it. Firmer deck, right stable, she can run a much improved race at odds.
Race 5. (02:00) Wokingham Stakes (Heritage Handicap) 1207m
Genuine waddle your finger and hope for the best here. 15 Flash Harry (Bet Now: $31.00) is a big enough price to speck. He resumed over this trip at Salisbury when back off speed and was held up at times but overall, had his chance. Better for the run, he is hit and miss but certainly capable of finishing hard.
4 Double Rush (Bet Now: $6.00) is 2/2 this time in for Andrew Balding. Both wins have come over 1200m at Newmarket and each time has been quite impressive the way he has gone about it. Good test here but he will be hard to beat.
1 Spy Chief (Bet Now: $5.50) ran second in that Salisbury race mentioned above. He landed on speed and tried hard but first up, condition just gave way late. Fitter, good racing style, he should be around the mark.
Race 6. (02:35) Golden Gates Stakes (Handicap) 2004m
3 Evanesco (Bet Now: $12.00) for me. He led throughout to win at Newmarket last time, getting front end control and gave nothing else a look in to win and win well. He should find the top again and take running down.
The form around 12 Lost Boys (Bet Now: $2.90) is suspect but he is 2/2 this time in and does get J Mac. Resumed with a win at Sandown before repeating the dose in style at Newbury. Confident he can measure up against this lot.
Lot of merit to the win of 6 Bayaann (Bet Now: $21.00) last start at Windsor given he led throughout and despite copping heat, he found, shrugged off and kicked hard in the run to the line. He’ll be out of trouble and giving a sight.
Race 7. (03:10) Queen Alexandra Stakes 4355m
If there is petrol in the tank of 8 Illinois (Bet Now: $2.60), I think he’s the winner. Unfortunately he has been a pacemaker for Coolmore in recent times but he gets his chance to be a star here. Forget the Coronation Cup run, he gets his chance here and if he brings anything close to his best, he wins.
9 Le Destrier (Bet Now: $3.90) would be $1.10 if you could know for sure he’d run the trip. He ran third to Scandinava last start in the Levmoss at Leopardstown, and we saw what that horse did in the Gold Cup on Thursday. Form is A1, Willie Mullins polish…just has to run the trip.
4 Columbus (Bet Now: $11.00) comes here off the back of a placing over the jumps over 4000m at Killarney where he tried hard but was no match late. He has the solid grounding and has also got the Willie Mullins polish.
