Widden Stud and Bangaloe Stud have joined forces to purchase Group 2-winning mare Coeur Volante for $500,000 through Inglis Digital.
The daughter of Proisir, currently in training with Lindsay Park, was offered as part of the Spring Boutique Sale and will now head to the breeding barn for a planned mating with champion sire Zoustar.
“She’s a beautiful mare with a neat pedigree that had a dynamic 3YO season especially,” Widden’s Antony Thompson said.
“I’ve seen her on race days and saw videos of her in the lead-up to this sale but did rely heavily on Sebastian [Hutch] who saw her last week and relayed his thoughts to us but it’s really exciting to have secured her.
“Whether it’s this season or next, we’ll let the dust settle before locking anything in like that but when the time does come, we think Zoustar will be an ideal match on both pedigree and type.”
Bangaloe Stud’s Julia Ritchie, who last year purchased a share in Zoustar via Inglis Digital, said the acquisition was a perfect fit for her expanding broodmare band.
“I’m in the process of refreshing my broodmare band at the moment and she’s going to be a great new addition,” she said.
“My dad and Antony’s dad Bim Thompson were great mates back in the day so this is just the continuation of a long and prosperous friendship and working relationship.”
