The future of Caulfield Guineas winner Griff’s first season at stud is unclear as a welfare investigation continues into a Tasmanian thoroughbred property.
Weona Park, described as a “family-run boutique thoroughbred performance horse stud,” is the focus of a probe led by Tasmanian Racing Integrity Commissioner Sean Carroll.
Authorities including officers from Biosecurity Tasmania, Tasracing, and the RSPCA visited the Antill Ponds property on Monday following concerns about potential overstocking.
According to ABC reports, a number of horses on the property were found to have poor “body scores,” although none were deemed to be in immediate danger from a welfare perspective.
