Group 1-winning filly Velocious, the daughter of Written Tycoon who captured the G1 Sistema Stakes, has been secured for $1.625 million and will now join Yulong’s prestigious broodmare band after being purchased on behalf of Walnut Farm.
Velocious was the star attraction at the July (Late) Online Sale, topping the auction that grossed $4.8 million – the second-highest result in the platform’s history.
Yulong Chief Operating Officer Sam Fairgray explained that Mr Zhang had been tracking Velocious for months before she became available. “Mr Zhang had been following her closely, and as soon as she came on the market, he was determined to secure her,” Fairgray said.
Fairgray noted that Velocious is expected to visit exciting stallion More Than Looks this breeding season. “Velocious was an outstanding two-year-old. We also own her dam, Parmalove, who we purchased through Inglis Digital in 2024, and she is currently carrying a full sibling to Velocious. It’s fantastic to now have Velocious joining our broodmare band.”
Walnut Farm also purchased Royal Mule, a Kingman half-sister to Group winner Tiz Invincible, for $200,000. Royal Mule was offered in foal to Exceedance.
Other highlights of the sale included stakes-placed Magnus mare Comica, in foal to Ole Kirk, who was secured by Two Bays Farm for $220,000. Stakes-winning mare Wild Belle was purchased by Widden Stud for $155,000.
Widden also added to its purchases with a 12.5 per cent share in Group 1 winner Molly Bloom for $50,000, rounding out a successful sale for several leading farms.
