Coolmore Australia has unveiled its 2025 stallion roster, confirming a line-up filled with top-quality sires and a clear emphasis on breeder value. The only exception is Wootton Bassett (GB), who returns to Australia but whose service fee remains under consideration.
“The 2025 Coolmore Australia stallion roster is one of immense quality, that we are extremely proud to offer to breeders throughout Australia and New Zealand,” said Coolmore Australia Principal, Tom Magnier. “We thought long and hard when setting our fees this year, with a strong focus on offering value to breeders. We understand that people are doing it tough, but we want to work with them and see them prosper.”
Magnier highlighted that while some sales saw softer results this year, the recent Inglis Easter Yearling Sale stood out as one of the strongest in memory. “Almost a quarter of the yearlings catalogued at Easter were by Coolmore Australia stallions – a hugely significant statistic,” he added. “We have three extremely exciting new additions to our roster in 2025, and some of the best up-and-coming sire prospects in the country, so the future is bright.”
Wootton Bassett will make his return to the Hunter Valley after a standout year highlighted by multiple high-class two-year-olds including Australia’s highest-rated juvenile colt, Wodeton, and fellow Group 1 performer State Visit. His second crop yielded three million-dollar yearlings from a $71,500 service fee.
“Wootton Bassett is the hottest stallion in the world at the moment and he is already making an undeniable mark on the breed in Australia,” Magnier said. “What is most exciting about him in an Australian context is that he has 100 unraced two-year-olds from his first crop and every trainer we speak to seems to have a good one.”
New names joining the Coolmore roster include Caulfield Guineas winner Private Life, standing at $19,250, and the internationally proven pair City of Troy (USA) and Switzerland.
Coolmore’s Home Affairs retains his $82,500 fee after becoming only the second stallion in Australian history – alongside Redoute’s Choice – to produce two yearlings to sell for $3 million in the same year. His first crop of yearlings grossed over $31 million at auction.
Meanwhile, proven sires So You Think and Pierro have both had their fees reduced to $44,000 and $33,000 respectively, while Pride of Dubai sees a small increase to $27,500 as he continues to lead the Australian sires premiership.
“Pierro and So You Think both produced million-dollar yearlings at Inglis Easter and have established themselves amongst the elite Australian stallions over a long period of time,” said Coolmore’s Paddy Oman. “Each of them have covered quality books of mares in recent years, so they offer significant upside at these fees.”
Oman also praised Pride Of Dubai’s consistency, stating, “I can’t remember the last time a stallion in the conversation for Champion Sire at such a late stage of the season was standing for such a fee. He has developed into an incredibly consistent stallion, capable of producing genuine stars.”
Among Coolmore’s younger sires, Golden Slipper winner Shinzo will continue to stand at $55,000, while Best of Bordeaux ($13,750), King’s Legacy ($16,500), and Acrobat ($11,000) round out the sprinting prospects.
St Mark’s Basilica (FR), standing for an unchanged $38,500, remains another highlight. “The word on his first two-year-olds in Europe is extremely positive and that was reflected in some big prices at the breeze-up sale last week,” said Coolmore’s Colm Santry. “Given how well shuttle stallions are going in Australia at the moment, we expect him to be very popular this season.”
