Coolmore has secured an interest in multiple Grade 1 winner Nysos, with the outstanding son of Nyquist set to continue racing through the 2026 American season before retiring to Ashford Stud in Kentucky.
The five-year-old will race in partnership with his existing owner Baoma Corp. before eventually taking up stallion duties at Coolmore’s flagship American operation.
Nysos further enhanced his reputation with a dominant four-length victory in the Grade 1 Metropolitan Handicap at Saratoga on June 6, clocking 1:34.85, just outside the track record.
Prepared by Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert, Nysos announced himself as a horse of exceptional talent when winning his debut by 10.5 lengths.
He subsequently captured the Grade 3 Bob Hope Stakes and Grade 3 Robert B. Lewis Stakes before a setback interrupted a potential Triple Crown campaign.
Returning at four, Nysos resumed with a narrow second placing in the Grade 1 Churchill Downs Stakes before embarking on an unbeaten run that included victory in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile and several other graded stakes successes.
His record now stands at eight wins and two second placings from 10 starts, with earnings approaching US$5.3 million.
Earlier this year he also performed with distinction on the international stage when finishing runner-up to global star Forever Young in the Group 1 Saudi Cup.
The acquisition adds another elite performer to Coolmore’s future stallion ranks and strengthens the long-term appeal of Ashford Stud’s roster.
Nysos is expected to remain in training through the Breeders’ Cup World Championships before commencing his stud career in Kentucky.
