Australia’s broodmare market has drawn high praise after a wave of international investment at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale, underscoring the growing global appeal of local breeding stock.
One of the standout sales was Frankel mare Call Di, in foal to sought-after stallion Extreme Choice, who fetched $2.5 million late on Wednesday, rounding out a stellar two-day sale that featured nearly two dozen mares breaking the million-dollar mark.
Call Di, consigned by Newgate and hailing from the esteemed Samantha Miss bloodline, was purchased by Yulong, who again finished as the leading buyer of the sale. Her final price tag of $2.1 million helped lift the overall turnover of the sale past $88 million.
The transaction capped a highly successful broodmare session and highlighted the continued appetite from global buyers for elite Australian bloodstock.
