Matthew Hoysted’s lightly raced four-year-old Yoyo Yeezy might still only be learning his craft, but the son of Yes Yes Yes is also quietly putting together a very promising form-line which looks set to take him further than the BM70 Handicap he landed at Eagle Farm today over the 1000m trip.

This was Yoyo Yeezy’s third successive win from only four starts … his only miss was on debut back on July 18.

In all, Yoyo Yeezy has had as many trials as races (four) as Hoysted has brought the half-brother to his Group 1 winner Uncommon James along in a carefully measured fashion with some horses needing more management than others.

“It wasn’t as easy as we probably thought (Yoyo Yeezy won by 0.60 lengths at starting price of $1.40), but he still had to get the job done,” said Hoysted, talking about the win, post-race.

“He is a horse that likes to go fast and once he steps slow (as he did here) it took away that asset that we know he does have … and he had to adapt. Thankfully, he was still able to be good enough.

“When he gets things his own way … he is a bot of a control freak … he can be much more effective.

“Even in all of his trials, when he hasn’t had the rail and been out wide … he has always had the tendency to want to get in and just look for that rail (which he did here).

“He is still learning. He is far from the finished product.”

And jockey Damien Thornton was happy to confirm that Yoyo Yeezy is on the improve.

“He is delivering and probably getting even quicker each time he goes around,” said Thornton.
