Read what eahc of the jockeys had to say about their rides in the 2025 Winx Stakes at Randwick.
James McDonald (Via Sistina): “Nice for her to come back as good as she left off last time. It worked out really well I think.”
On the future: “The deeper in her prep she goes, the better she will go. It is good signs ahead that she has returned in good order with great enthusiasm. Gee the second horse was great. I could see the shadow and I couldn’t think what it would be. I was thinking I have quickened up beautifully and she gave me a hell of a fright.”
Jason Collett (Aeliana): “Great return. A bit fresh and tardy out of the gates. Didn’t help but she challenged the very good winner.”
Rachel King (Arapaho): “Unbelievable first up run. He’s only had one trial and heavy track. He’s all horse.”
Chad Schofield (Ceolwulf): “Huge run. We didn’t want to be back there. He missed the start again, something he can do. Rattled home, nothing has made up ground from back and wide like he has. Enormous.”
Tommy Berry (Gringotts): “He went well today. He was never 100% comfortable in the going in the run. And then he really felt like he was going to put it to them at the top of the straight. Probably ran out of condition the last 150m on a track that even though he likes it soft, the Heavy 10 really bought his undoing today.”
Dylan Gibbons (War Eternal): “He went fantastic. He has just run sixth in a WFA G1 so he has done a good job.”
Josh Parr (Robusto): “Nice performance. Didn’t appreciate the heavy ground completely. Gave a good show.”
Adam Hyeronimus (Full Count Felicia): “She has gone really well first up. Will be better at a mile and a firmer track.”
Andrew Adkins (Diamond Diesel): “It was tough. They went far too quick for him when the accelerator went on. He’s going well.”
Nash Rawiller (Lindermann): “He is 6 for love now on the wet. Look I travelled nicely, cut the corner. Tried to help him through that but the big mare just had me chasing too far out. He didn’t let go in it.”
Ethan Brown (Light Infantry Man): “Just didn’t pick up in the heavy.”
