Champion mare Winx has trialled arguably the best she ever has before a preparation as she embarks on a fourth Cox Plate.
Winx who is notable as being a pretty casual worker went around in the first trial at Rosehill on Tuesday and looked in tremendous order being relatively hard held by regular jockey Hugh Bowman to run third behind Alizee and Ace High in a star studded field.
Hugh Bowman was very pleased with the trial:
“I was very impressed with her. She was more relaxed this morning than her first trial. It was a good step in the right direction. She’s ready to go to the races. That’s as good as she’s ever trialled.”
“I asked her to use herself and the response was very encouraging. Her gallop on Saturday was impressive, I could barely hold her.”
Winx will make her return in the Group One Winx Stakes on the 18th August with her target being the Cox Plate on the 27th October.
