Winx beater set for Group 1

Dual Group 2 winner Slightly Sweet is the only current horse to have beaten equal worlds-best Winx, doing so on 2 occasions. The 6-year-old mare finished 3rd on both occasions in Group 2 company, filling the minors with Winx further back in the field.

It will be the 5th start in Group 1 Company for the Jason Coyle trained galloper, managing a 7th placing at best, 2.7 lengths behind Fenway in the 2000m Vinery Stud Stakes at Rosehill Gardens in March 2015.

Possessing a big turn of foot and close to the best late speed in the field however, Slightly Sweet looks primed for a big race over the 1500m trip, running the quickest final 600 of the race when first up behind Prompt Response and Egyptian Symbol.

The 5-time winner will have to contend with the widest barrier however the stars may be aligning for the mare here, as she goes into the Coolmore Classic 3rd up with plenty of fitness on here side, as well as the obvious class in which she has bragging rights over every other current racehorse in the world.

Slightly Sweet was more than impressive in consective runs at Rosehill in July last year, winning the Listed Winter Stakes over 1400 prior to another honest showing over the 1500m trip, holding good average speed to miss by just over 1L, even clocking a 10.92 between the 400 and 200m, hitting the line at a speedy 63.16 kp/h.
