The Godolphion juggernaut, like all of us, has been waiting for a Good track and got one today.
Then they smiled.
Their boom and unbeaten 4YO gelding CRIADERAS (Lonhro-Youthful Presence) resumed from a spell today and just blew by a pretty smart BM 72 field winning eased up by 2 lengths.
In doing so he smashed the Kensington 1250m track record by a second and impressed the socks off jockey James McDonald.
“Wow, he has a turn of foot alright. I was a bit worried coming to the home turn because they had been really humming along and he was having trouble keeping up but when I let him go he just flew.
“I’d love to see him over a mile because he’d be closer and be able to settle in the mid stages. He’s definitely going places.”
It was Criaderas’ third race start and his first in the city.
Assistant trainer Darren Beadman was full of praise also.
“He has a lot of upside. I was worried which version of him would turn up because his trials on the wet track haven’t been great but he put them away pretty easily today.
“His mum has produced 9 to race for 9 winners and it looks like we will have a fair bit of fun with him.”
That’s Godolphin code, of course, for he is very good.
Which we saw today as he raced past the smart and well-tried winner of his past two starts in ON THE LEAD with ROCK AMORE getting home well a few lengths further back in 3rd.
