Coolmore have confirmed that they have come to an arrangement with Lindsay Park and prominent owner Rupert Legh to race War Machine in The Everest 2025.
Coolmore has moved to secure War Machine, setting up a compelling family showdown with brothers Ben, Will and JD Hayes now poised to take on their father David’s superstar, the odds-on favourite Ka Ying Rising, in The Everest.
The announcement sees one of the world’s leading racing operations align with one of Australia’s most prominent owners for the $20 million sprint at Randwick.
“Coolmore has a long standing relationship with the Hayes family and we’re delighted to team up with Ben, Will and JD for our slot in The Everest this year,” said Coolmore Australia Principal, Tom Magnier. “Similarly, there are very few people that put as much into racing as Rupert Legh, so it’s great to offer him and his partners a place in this great race. The last two winners of the race have come through the Stradbroke, so it’s a proven formula, and we’re looking forward to what promises to be another great edition of the race.”
The partnership adds further strength to Coolmore’s presence in Australian racing’s richest contest, with War Machine now set to take on the country’s elite sprinters in the 2025 edition of The Everest.
Godolphin is poised to finalise its representative for The Everest early next week, with standout three-year-olds Beiwacht and Tempted emerging as the leading candidates for the slot.
The powerhouse operation is weighing up their options before locking in a runner, with both colts firmly in the frame on the back of their recent performances.
