Racing NSW has provided updates on injured jockeys Melanie Bolwell & Leanne Henry from the fall at Warialda on Saturday (8th April).

(update at 8:45am on Tuesday 11th April): Melanie is now in a stable condition and the bleed around the brain does not require surgery, however, Melanie has a fracture in her neck and is having an MRI scan to determine the treatment. A decision will be made in the next few days whether the ventilator tube can be removed. Doctors have also found a fracture in Melanie’s ankle.
(update at 6:40pm on Sunday 9th April): Melanie’s parents and boyfriend are by her bedside at the Gold Coast Hospital, her father Jason has advised Melanie has suffered bleeding on her brain which the Doctors will monitor for 72 hours before deciding if surgery is required. She also suffered general bruising, is able to open her eyes momentarily but is being kept sedated. Racing NSW’s Dr David Duckworth will liaise with Doctors and monitor Melanie’s treatment.

(update at 8:45am on Tuesday 11th April): Racing NSW’s Dr David Duckworth has reported he operated on Leanne last night and the surgery went well.
(update at 1pm on Monday 10th April): Leanne has suffered a broken collarbone and concussion from the fall and is likely to be out of action for six weeks.
