Trainer Peter Snowden expects his unbeaten filly Plaintiff to face a significant challenge when she resumes from a wide barrier in Saturday’s Group 3 PJ Bell Stakes at Randwick.
The $2.2 million three-year-old daughter of Zoustar returns after an impressive first campaign that yielded three straight wins. Snowden has earmarked the race as a stepping stone toward the Group 3 James Carr Stakes in two weeks.
“The good ones they still run well, they still find a way to run well and that’s what I want to see on Saturday,’’ Snowden told Racing NSW.
“She’s going to face adversity but the good ones do find a bit more.’’
Snowden indicated that how the track plays later in the program will influence tactics, particularly from the wide draw, with jockey Jordan Childs set to assess conditions as the meeting unfolds.
“I’m really happy with her, both her trials have been good and she’s come back in good order,’’ he said.
Plaintiff, the third foal from Group 1-winning mare Prompt Response, is raced by John Camilleri’s Fairway Thoroughbreds.
