No slouch but challenging galloper can win again in suitable midweek race.

He was a beaten favourite last start but Jack Bruce is challenged but undeterred as it will all be up to which Atmosphere shows up at Ipswich on Thursday.

Bruce will saddle up the $2.90 favourite in the Barrier Reef Pools Class 5 Plate (1350m) after the gelding’s previous outing that saw him lead then fade into fourth place at Gold Coast over 1400-metres at $1.65.

“He’s been a bit of a headscratcher,” Bruce said.

“Obviously I was disappointed last time when beaten as a short-priced favourite but he’s done that from time-to-time.

“He can be hit and miss in terms of his form and sometimes you have to ask Atmosphere which Atmosphere is going to be turning up but there is no doubt that at his best he has been dynamic and he’s won three races for us with two of them on a Saturday in Brisbane.

“He’s certainly no slouch and he can turn it on when he wants to.”Ipswich also holds no fears for the six-year-old son of weight-for-age start Lohnro.

“He won his first start in Queensland at Ipswich over 1100-metres, Bruce added.

“He bounced a led that day and was able to control the race to win it in a good Saturday grade affair so he’s certainly got a liking for the track and can be there.

“They don’t run many set weights class fives at the provincials so I thought it was a good opportunity for him but he is picky about which days he decides to put in.”

Daniel Moor goes aboard Atmosphere and the internationally experience hoop who recently made the move from Victoria to Queensland.

Bruce is happy to have Moor along whose start in the sunshine state has been positive.

“I have started to use him and he will be on Galifinaikis in the Mooloolaba Cup at Sunshine Coast on Saturday,” Bruce said.

“He’s a very well credentialled jockey to be calling Queensland home and he has been very effective since arriving.

“He has put his skills on display and it is no surprise to see a lot of Queensland trainers supporting him.”
