Te Akau Racing has recently invested in rejuvenating Midnight Blue, a Group 2 Perth Cup winner, purchasing the seven-year-old for $92,500 from Bob Peters through Inglis Digital. Now under the guidance of trainer Mark Walker at Cranbourne, the team is optimistic about the horse’s potential.
Walker, explaining the acquisition, mentioned that they acted upon finding Midnight Blue online after conducting thorough vet checks. With few horses available and a good health report, they seized the opportunity.
Midnight Blue is being eyed for the Ballarat Cup in early December, with a potential warm-up at the Cranbourne Cup. This purchase follows the sale of other Peters-owned horses like Superstorm and Western Empire.
Having recently finished fifth at the Seymour Cup, Midnight Blue also underwent training at Caulfield. Walker believes that a change of environment, coupled with Cranbourne’s top-notch facilities, could be key to revitalising the horse. If this approach doesn’t work, they are considering entering him in a maiden hurdle race in Warrnambool come May.
