Stablehand Paige Mathieson has been disqualified for nine months by Racing NSW stewards after being found to have breached a prior suspension and provided false evidence during an inquiry.
Mathieson was discovered to have continued performing stablehand duties while her licence was under suspension, working at the Casino stables of trainer Erica Giggins between November 26 last year and January 24 this year.
She pleaded guilty to that offence under AR270A(1), as well as to a separate charge of providing false or misleading evidence during a stewardsβ inquiry in March.
For the first charge, Mathieson was issued a six-month disqualification, which was reduced to three months, with an additional three months applied to account for a previously imposed but unserved penalty.
She also received a four-month disqualification for the second charge, which was reduced to three months following her guilty plea.
Stewards directed that the penalties be served cumulatively, resulting in a total disqualification period of nine months, commencing on Monday April 13, 2026 and concluding on Wednesday January 13, 2027.
