Goldfront’s Sue Olive is optimistic Snickerdoodledandy can pocket another win when she returns to WA racing on the weekend.

Snickerdoodledandy is back on her old stomping ground once again and lines up in Sunday’s Listed Pinjarra Classic (1300m).

Sue Olive trusts her decision to extend Snickerdoodledandy’s racing career before she’s retired to stud will reap handy rewards.

The Snitzel mare, who showcased her three-year-old goods by winning the Burgess Queen Stakes (1400m) for Dan Morton, is back after a short stint in Melbourne.

Snickerdoodledandy had seven starts for Peter Moody and reached a peak by winning a 1410m event at Flemington under Jamie Kah before the wheels fell off.

She failed to flatter in four subsequent starts and came home to Olive after running last in the Group 2 Rose Of Kingston (1410m) at Flemington last October.

Olive said there were genuine reasons why Snickerdoodledandy’s Melbourne campaign came to a disappointing end.

“It was discovered after that run she had a grade 2 breathing problem,” Olive said.

“That could explain why she went the way she did, but the soft tracks didn’t help.

“She just couldn’t get on top of the ground.

“The idea was to retire her to stud immediately, but it was too soon and she didn’t have time to let down.

“She came home and I put her in the paddock, but she was getting big and I brought her back into work to get the weight off.

“She has been working really well and we thought we’ll keep her going and hopefully get a few more cheques.

“In work her breathing problem is okay, but you don’t know what it will be like under race day pressure.

“Sunday will tell us a lot more, but I would like to think she has a winning chance.”

Lucy Warwick partners Snickerdoodledandy in the Pinjarra Classic.
