Trainer Nick Ryan will give Sircconi extra time to recover from an ailment that forced his scratching from a recent race at Flemington.
Sircconi will be missing from the VRC/CRV Winter Championship Series Final (1600m) having won the race last year after the rising seven-year-old missed a heat of the series at Flemington last week.
After a first-up sixth to stablemate Dice Roll at Sandown in early May, Sircconi then travelled to Brisbane in the search of what was hoped to be soft ground.
But the gelding struck a good track when finishing second last in the Group 3 BRC Sprint at Doomben on May 22 and with the prospects of further fine weather, Ryan decided to bring Sircconi back to his Flemington stable.
“He travelled back from Brisbane and he worked terrific on the Saturday but then he left a bit of feed and had a bit of a temperature,” Ryan said.
“So, I think the travelling has probably knocked him around a little bit, so we’ll give him a little freshen.
“He’s still in the stable but he’s missed a few runs with a couple of setbacks but there are quite a few races that could be suitable in three or four weeks, but we’ll just have to get him right and fit.
“Queensland was a bit of a disaster, so we’ll have to get him firing.”
Meanwhile Ryan is considering starting last week’s Flemington winner Express Pass in a weight-for-age sprint early next month.
Ryan said the Group 3 Sir John Monash Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on July 10 was under consideration.
“We might nominate him for the Monash in a few weeks and have a look at the entries or there is a benchmark 84 over 1000m on July 17 at Flemington,” Ryan said.
“He’s in the paddock at the moment. He’ll have a week there and come back to Flemington and we’ll get him ready for one of those races.”
