Controversy, terrible weather and class sums up Silver Slipper Stakes Day at Rosehill. Manawanui had the Hobartville Stakes won, but threw it away by wobbling about in the straight and gifting Nash Rawiller and Wild And Proud in the Stewards room. Only reason he won I feel is the breeding- Snowland has been a revelation in producing mudlarks and this bloke has shown it in his last two starts.

Thanks to late scratchings, Red Tracer was gifted the Millie Fox Stakes and won with a leg in the air. Sat in the slipstream of Montana Flyer, eased out and won as she pleased. Look out for her in the Coolmore Classic.

Pierro defied an alarming betting drift to record a brilliant win in the Silver Slipper. The boom on him was huge prior to the race and he let his racing do the talking. He’ll be very hard to beat come Easter Saturday in the $3.5 Million Golden Slipper.

Race One: Edmen Community Staffing Handicap 1400m

FORGIVE:
Aerobatics had her chance but just found one a bit too stronger in Detours. Keep following her.

FORGET:
My Vegas won well last week, but he was very disappointing here. Retirement is on the cards for this injury-plagued galloper.

FOLLOW:
Revolt got home beautifully after being beaten for speed throughout. He’ll be winning races for sure.

Race Two: The Willis Australia Handicap 1800m

FORGIVE:
Court Connection had no idea what to do on the heavy track, but once he switched on, he powered home over the final furlong. Back him on a firmer track.

FORGET:
Charring Cross, 60kg on a wet surface…it was impossible and he proved it right. He doesn’t carry weight well.

FOLLOW:
On Every Level got home very hard after going to sleep on the rail. Another win for this inexperienced stayer isn’t too far away if he holds this sort of form.

Race Three: T & M Lahood Fireball Quality 1100m

FORGIVE:
Nobby Snip would have won by further, but was brought back to the rest by the wet track. Don’t be fooled by the way he won.

FORGET:
Al’s Magic Miss found this class too rich. She isn’t a blacktype filly.

FOLLOW:
Velrosso went terribly behind Nobby Snip at Canterbury, but showed drastic improvement here where she sat back and ran on well near the fence.

Race Four: Parramatta Cup 2000m

FORGIVE:
The two Waterhouse runners really struggled over the final 400m. They were off the bit a long way out and never looked likely. Wait for a firmer surface and a weight drop.

FORGET:
Sienna Red. Absolute cat.

FOLLOW:
Jimmy Fortunes was under the whip and doing nothing at the 600m, yet picked up and with another 50m, he would have won. Give him a dry track and he’ll pick up one of these weak staying events.

Race Five: Silver Slipper Stakes 1100m

FORGIVE:
Hussousa was ridden on the pace, which I don’t think is her go. She was found wanting at the 200m and couldn’t hold of Pierro. Ride her cold and she’ll very competitive.

FORGET:
Nediym’s Quest was well supported but went terribly. Is he as good as what they say? On his effort here, no way.

FOLLOW:
Pierro is right in the mix for the Golden Slipper. He had a belly on him for this, so expect a few lengths improvement from this superb win.

Race Six: Hobartville Stakes 1400m

FORGIVE:
Manawanui should have won, but was very green where it mattered most. He is still the benchmark of the three-year-old boys, don’t sack him.

FORGET:
I know King Saul is suited over further, but gee he’d want to improve about 10 lengths if he is to be considered.

FOLLOW:
Ambidexter caught the eye in the Royal Sovereign and he did it again here. Darley has another very good Derby contender.

Race Seven: Millie Fox Stakes 1300m

FORGIVE:
No excuses. Just beaten by a classy mare.

FORGET:
Jersey Lily stopped badly late. Either something went amiss or she was just terrible.

FOLLOW:
She didn’t beat much, but Red Tracer won like a Group One mare. She just now has to win a major.

Race Eight: Endeavour Recycled Clothing Handicap 1500m

FORGIVE:
Brayroan was caught near the inside, which was quicksand like. He still picked up well for fourth and he appears to be flying.

FORGET:
Darci Be Good was very ordinary as a well backed runner here. Not sure where connections go because they can forget winning the good three-year-old races.

FOLLOW:
All Legal was second up over 1500m on a wet track. It was against him yet he loomed up to win. Back him with confidence next start.
