One of just four fillies in the race, See You In Heaven has won the Sandown Guineas at Caulfield

Just one filly had won the Group 2 Sandown Guineas (1600m) in the past sixteen years and See You In HeavenĀ has emulated the performance of Pretty Brazen in 2019, taking out the 2022 edition run at Caulfield in fine style.

A messy race in the big field, Craig WilliamsĀ settled the daughter of Divine Prophet up on the pace and she found plenty in the straight to deny The Fortune Teller who was forced to race four wide without cover.

A two-time Group 3 winner as a two-year-old both at Flemington and Morphettville, Richard Jolly, who trains in partnership with his daughter Chantelle, were thrilled to notch up their third Group 2 win, having never won a Group 1 from six attempts.

“A really good win, obviously the first time at the mile so that answered a few questions and we can plan a few in the autumn, we might even look at an Oaks with her. Really happy for the filly, she hasn’t had much luck this time in and done a great job,” said Jolly.

Williams made it a treble on the last day on the carnival, having already ridden Gin MartiniĀ and Vienna PrincessĀ to victory earlier in the card and was impressed with the fillies’ strength over an untried 1600m.

“To come here with 55 kilos on her back in a set-weight race, a masterful plan and she gave me the confidence that she’d come on from the other day and she duly did all the running for us,” Williams said.

Williams had the plan to go forward from barrier thirteen, something Jolly was apprehensive about but which ultimately proved the right decision.

“I think Craig had it in his head he was going to go forward , I thought we’d probably go back and get cover and he was pretty adamant he was going forward – that’s why he’s a good jockey,” Jolly said.
