Chris Munce has reached some milestones as a trainer in the past week and he is about to roll out some of his big names for the summer.

Munce sailed over 100-career Queensland winners with a treble at Caloundra on Sunday.

He now has 105 winners on all Australian tracks since he began training in January, 2015.

The winner of 43 Group One races as a jockey, Munce has already trained four stakes race winners.

And he hopes to have a major impact on the Queensland’s summer carnivals with one of his main players to be promising three-year-old Saint Patricks Day.

As a two-year-old Saint Patricks Day was rated among the best young horses in the state.

He won his first start at Caloundra and scored in the Listed Dalrello Stakes.

Saint Patricks Day was then fourth in the BRC Sires’ Produce before Munce decided to spell him.

“He had a few niggling issues so we missed the JJ Atkins Stakes with him,” Munce said.

“I’m not taking anything away from the eventual Atkins winner in Capital Gain but Saint Patricks Day finished in front of him the three times they met.”

“It gives you an idea of my bloke’s ability.”

Munce has accepted with Saint Patricks Day to take on older horses at Doomben on Saturday.

“I was hoping the track would be dry because the funny thing is he has never raced on anything better than a soft surface,” Munce said.

“I think he will be better on top of the ground but we might have to wait a while to find out.”

Munce said he elected to take on older horses because of the way the races fell”

“The 1200 metres on Saturday is ideal. He has had two trials and he has to start somewhere,” he said.

Saint Patricks Day’s ultimate goal is the $2 million Magic Millions Guineas in January.

Munce will also have Royal Hootenanny and Spirit Of Cherokee at Doomben.

“Royal Hootenanny won at Caloundra on Sunday but she likes wet tracks and she can take on a fillies and mares race at Doomben,” Munce said.

“Spirit Of Cherokee is a first starter two-year-old by Spirit Of Boom who has been going along OK.”
