Trainer Saab Hasan is counting his blessings after a horrifying incident during trackwork left him hospitalised.
Hasan was rushed to the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where medical professionals diagnosed him with a broken collarbone and concussion.
Recognising the severity of the accident, Hasan expressed gratitude that the outcome was not more catastrophic.
The incident occurred when both of Hasan’s irons snapped while riding trackwork, leading to a loss of control and a subsequent fall on his left side.
Hasan revealed that he has no memory beyond collapsing and experiencing two seizures.
Despite the challenges posed by the sport, Hasan remains resilient and optimistic, acknowledging the inherent dangers but emphasizing his determination to bounce back.
While currently focused on his recovery, Hasan is already contemplating his return to work, although he acknowledges that it could be several months before he receives clearance.
Supported by a strong network, Hasan remains in good spirits following the accident.
In his characteristic spirit, he stated, “Giving up never won a race.”
