Darley has made headlines in the Australian breeding industry by announcing that Anamoe will become the most expensive Australian-bred first season sire in history. The colt, a son of Street Boss, will stand at stud for $121,000 including GST, with expectations high that he will make a strong impression in the breeding shed.
Exceed And Excel will once again be the most expensive stallion at Darley, with a fee of $132,000 including GST. Street Boss will return to Victoria for $66,000, and Paulele will join him at Northwood Park.
Darley’s 2023 roster features 18 Group 1 winners, all of which are expected to make an impact in the market. Vin Cox, Godolphin Australia’s Managing Director, is confident in the team’s performance.
“We head into the 2023 breeding months with confidence knowing that our stallions are producing the right results at all ends of the market,” said Cox.
“The Godolphin racing team, powered by the Darley stallions, is enjoying unprecedented success, and our teams, be they nominations, stud administration, stallion, and marketing teams, are operating like well-oiled machines ready for another season. On behalf of our teams, it’s a privilege to offer breeders Darley’s 2023 line-up, and it’s a responsibility we do not and will not hold lightly.”
Anamoe’s record-breaking debut fee is expected to generate significant interest, given his impressive racing record and breeding. As the most expensive Australian-bred first season sire in history, Anamoe is sure to be given every opportunity to succeed in his new career as a stallion. The breeding industry will be closely watching the performance of Anamoe and the other Darley stallions in the upcoming season, as they shape the future of Australian racing.
