Nash Rawiller will spend a week on the sidelines after being found guilty of breaching whip rules during his ride on Lindermann in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
Stewards charged Rawiller after he struck the runner-up 10 times prior to the final 100 metres of the weight-for-age feature.
The jockey sought leniency, pointing to the “totality” of his whip use, noting that his overall strikes for the race totalled 17, which is below the threshold of 18 permitted provided a rider complies with the rules both before and inside the final 100 metres.
However, Rawillerโs record of six prior offences was taken into account by stewards, working against his case.
After pleading guilty, Rawiller was suspended from Sunday, April 19 through to April 26 and was also issued a fine of $7500.
