Jason Scott, boss of Racing Queensland, has resigned

Racing Queensland is on the search for a new chief executive following the resignation of Jason Scott.

The man who has led the organisation for the past two years revealed on Friday morning that he resigned earlier this week.

Scott said he was not moving to a new role but would remain with RQ for a number of months until a suitable successor could be found.

“For the past two years it’s been my privilege to serve as the CEO of Racing Queensland,” Scott said.

“On a daily basis I have thoroughly enjoyed waking up and working alongside you to advance the Queensland racing industry.

“As many of you will know, racing is more than just a career to me, it is my passion and I feel extremely fortunate to have served in this role.

“Earlier this week, I tendered by resignation as the Chief Executive Officer of Racing Queensland and I will conclude my tenure later this year.

“In the short term, I have no immediate plans beyond RQ and will continue to serve in the role until the Board can conduct a thorough process to appoint my successor.”

Racing Queensland chairman Steve Wilson AM paid tribute to Scott, whose previous roles as chief executive of Ladbrokes Australia and Vice President Trading, VIP and Retail Operations for BetMGM helped RQ maintain its increasing market share during his tenure

“Jason has done a stellar job in his successful tenure as CEO,” Wilson said.

“The economic headwinds have been challenging since he assumed the role, but he has taken that in his stride, growing our revenue, market share and stature as a racing jurisdiction.

“He has also served with distinction on the Racing Australia Board and as its representative on the Asian Racing Federation Executive Council.

“The Board and I are thankful for the sterling job that Jason has done and we look forward to him continuing to do so during his transition.”
