Racing NSW has made public its finalised 2024 Strategic Plan, arriving two years later than scheduled and largely unchanged from the draft version originally circulated for consultation.
The delay surrounding the document has drawn attention across the industry, with questions raised after it became clear the regulator had not met its obligations under the NSW Thoroughbred Racing Act to produce an updated plan every three years.
The last strategic plan prior to this release covered the 2017/18/19 period and was most recently updated in April 2019.
Under Section 14b of the Act, Racing NSW is required to prepare a strategic plan every three years in consultation with the Racing Industry Consultative Group and other key stakeholders within the thoroughbred racing industry.
