Leading sprint races at the start of the Queensland winter carnival have been identified as potential targets for the return of spring casualty Private Harry in 2026.
The high-class entire is set to arrive at Chris Waller’s stable in early February as he continues his rehabilitation program at a NSW pre-training centre.
Raced in partnership by syndicator Kurrinda Bloodstock and breeding powerhouse Yulong, Private Harry was ruled out of last spring’s $20 million Everest after sustaining an injury.
Trained by Nathan Doyle at Newcastle, Private Harry announced himself as a top-line sprinter 12 months ago with a string of wins that culminated in his Group 1 triumph in the Galaxy during the Sydney autumn carnival.
Kurrinda Bloodstock’s Sean Driver said the horse would continue his build-up before joining Waller’s Rosehill Gardens stable.
“He will do further work on the aqua walker and treadmill, and then have three weeks under saddle before joining Chris Waller’s team at Rosehill Gardens,” Driver told provincialracingnsw.com.au.
Connections have already highlighted two Group 1 Brisbane features as possible winter goals, with the Doomben 10,000 on May 16 and the Kingsford Smith Stakes (1300m) at Eagle Farm a fortnight later on the radar.
