Phoenix Thoroughbreds have added to their stallion interests by purchasing a significant stake in Aquis Farms’ Pierata.
Perhaps more noted for their exploits on the track through the likes of Farnan, Holyfield and the recently sold Prague, the deal sees the two ambitious groups strengthen their existing ties. Those already include a partnership in another Aquis stallion, Invader.
“We are thrilled to have bought into such an exciting young stallion. When the opportunity arose, we jumped at the chance to be involved. You only have to glance at his race record to see what a talent he was on the track and as a son of Pierro, we are confident he can follow in his father’s hoofprints as a leading stallion. We will be supporting him with plenty of our mares as well as in the sales ring. Phoenix Thoroughbreds CEO Amer Abdulaziz said.
“It’s extra special we get to face this exciting future with Aquis who have been fantastic partners. We have had plenty of success together and we are confident that will continue long into the future.”
The deal also sees Phoenix add further strength to their breeding interests. They now hold ownership shares in two of the most exciting young stallions in the country, with Pierata joining Vinery’s Coolmore winner Exceedance in the Dubai-based team’s portfolio. This in addition to their growing band of top-quality broodmares worldwide.
“As MD of Aquis Farm it is indeed a privilege to welcome Phoenix as our partners in Pierata. Phoenix have invested heavily in the Australian breeding industry and with their quality breeding stock we are confident Pierata will benefit greatly for our partnership.” Aquis Farm’s Managing Director Shane McGrath added
Pierata stands at Aquis for $44,000.
