Filly's owners now well in front after VOBIS Gold Carat win

Peace Treaty’s career is only four starts old, but her owners are already well in front after the National Defense filly registered her third win in Saturday’s rich VOBIS Gold Carat at The Valley.

The Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained three-year-old proved too classy for her rivals in the 1200-metre event that is restricted to paid-up members of the VOBIS Gold concept.

In addition to the $96,250 winner’s cheque, the $50,000 Inglis Premier purchase for Roll The Dice Racing bagged more Super VOBIS bonus money and has now banked $187,250.

“She cost $50k and she won a VOBIS race at Ballarat on debut where she picked up a $30,000 bonus for the owners, and now she’s probably put another $120,000 in the bin today, so we’re thrilled,” Rob Norton, of Roll The Dice Racing, said.

Peace Treaty was the only multiple winner engaged in the VOBIS Gold Carat and she benefitted from a confident Damian Lane ride to power to a comfortable win.

Lane used barrier one to advantage to lead and when Melbourne’s leading rider asked Peace Treaty for the supreme effort, she quickly put a gap on her rivals.

eace Treaty the $2.10 favourite with popular betting sites held a 3-1/4-length advantage over $5 second favourite Flying Mean, with Setosa ($11) 1-3/4 lengths away third.

Lane was conscious of the restricted nature of the race when assessing the performance but said Peace Treaty was a filly of obvious talent.

“She can certainly put a couple together this time of year,’ he said.

“I’m not sure where she’ll get to come autumn time, but this won’t be her last win, put it that way.”
