NSW trainer Brett Bellamy has been suspended for five months after Racing NSW stewards found him guilty of multiple sexual harassment offences along with an equine welfare breach.
The investigation was launched in April following allegations regarding Bellamy’s conduct towards employees at his Coffs Harbour stable, with stewards interviewing several female industry participants, owner Peter Wood and Bellamy himself.
Authorities also seized Bellamy’s mobile phone and reviewed CCTV footage as part of the inquiry.
Stewards ultimately issued five charges, including three under AR233(c) relating to sexual harassment involving remarks with sexual connotations and inappropriate conduct towards female workers during February 2026.
Bellamy pleaded guilty to one of those charges and contested the remaining two, but stewards found him guilty on all three counts.
He also pleaded guilty to a conduct charge after striking the horse La Cache A Vin while attempting to administer a drench in December 2025.
Further breaches included failing to report that The Wolf had displayed blood in one nostril following both a race start and a jump-out at Coffs Harbour on separate occasions.
In determining the penalty, stewards took into account the seriousness of the conduct, its impact on those involved, workplace standards within the racing industry and the importance of maintaining proper equine welfare.
The resulting penalty comprised a mix of concurrent and cumulative suspensions totalling five months.
