It promised to be a great race and the Might And Power (2000m) at Caulfield on Saturday turned out to be an epic, with Anamoe showcasing champion qualities late to wear them down and win his sixth Group l.

Read on for the 2022 Might And Power Post Race Horse Ratings.

2022 Might And Power Replay

2022 Might And Power Post Race Horse Ratings

1. Anamoe: He’s the best middle distance horse in Australia. Got into the right spot, sitting 1/1 and trucking. Seemingly crabbed around the turn and looked gone, but he balanced up and launched late to wear them down for a memorable win. He’s the one to beat in the 2022 Cox Plate.

Rating: 9/10

2. I’m Thunderstruck: I thought Mick Price was mad when thinking this horse would land box seat. He did get box seat and once he got the split, he looked the winner, but was nabbed late by Anamoe. I can’t see him turning the tables come Cox Plate Day, but the 2000m query has been quashed. Outstanding.

Rating: 9/10

3. Zaaki: He’s right on track for the Cox Plate. Landed outside Alligator Blood and both walked for the first 1200m. Jamie Kah put the foot down and poured the pressure on Alligator Blood. He beat that horse off but couldn’t sustain the run and was run down late. Still, a very good run.

Rating: 8.5/10

4. Mr Brightside: Very intersting run. He has already secured his Cox Plate spot via the Feehan win, but if they backed up next week in the Caulfield Cup, I’d mark him favourite. Slashing run, closing off very strongly late to run fourth. He’s at his peak now and for mine, he likely wins the Caulfield Cup. Doubt he win the Cox Plate. But this run was very good.

Rating: 8.5/10

5. Alligator Blood: I think the 2000m query with him is confirmed. He needs to walk them in front and get absolute control in order to see it out. If he cops pressure, he folds, like he did here. I can’t see him threatning on Cox Plate Day.

Rating: 5/10

6. Benaud: First proper look at the big boys and he ran well with an eye towards next Saturday. Was running into the race and just ran out of steam late. He’ll be hard fit now on the back for the Caulfield Cup next Saturday and is a live chance.

Rating: 6/10

7. Nonconformist: Lovely Caulfield Cup trial I thought. Flat footed when the sprint went on but he picked up late and was quite good to the line and through it. He’s on track for next Saturday.

Rating: 6/10

8.Mo’Unga: He ran last, but the run had merit. Another that was outsprinted when they dashed but the last 100m or so, he was just warming to the task nicely and is on track to run top five in the Cox Plate, provided he gets dry ground.

Rarting: 5/10
