Leading Sydney trainer Michael Freedman will soon have a permanent base on the Gold Coast, taking over the stables where his Hall of Fame brother Lee has been based since 2021.
The move, which requires final approval from Racing Queensland, is expected to be completed in time for the start of the new season.
As part of the arrangement, 68-year-old Lee Freedman will step back from training duties and take on the role of stable manager for Michael.
Michael says the expansion is well-timed as it will allow him to have a stronger presence in Brisbane racing year-round.
He added that having a Gold Coast stable will ease the ongoing challenges of securing boxes during the busy Brisbane winter and Magic Millions carnivals.
