Verry Elleegant’s journey across Europe is now entering a new phase, with the 11-time Group 1 winner being scanned and found to be in foal to the esteemed super stallion Sea The Stars. Speaking on Thursday, part-owner Brae Sokolski expressed his joy at the news before confirming that the 2021 Melbourne Cup champion will remain in Europe for the next 18 months.
“The first scan was positive and we look forward to the second scan,” Sokolski said. “Verry Elleegant is on her way in the next part of her life. She will foal down there in the new year of 2024, before being served by a yet to be determined stallion and then eventually returning to Australia in foal.”
The Norelands Stud in Ireland is where Verry Elleegant will call home for the duration of her stay, and the connections of the mare have expressed their appreciation for the care that stud manager Matt Gilsenan has provided.
