Maher chasing an elusive Blue Diamond Stakes

Ciaron Maher’s pursuit of a coveted Blue Diamond Stakes victory is set to gain momentum in the coming weeks, with Cherish Me and Wiltshire Square emerging as the stable’s top prospects.

Cherish Me showcased her potential with a commanding win in the Geelong Diamond earlier this month. Meanwhile, Wiltshire Square, who finished a strong second in the Listed Merson Cooper Stakes, has been refreshed and is gearing up for the Group 3 Blue Diamond Preview (Fillies) this Saturday at Sandown.

“She galloped Saturday with Cherish Me, they just bridled up together,” assistant trainer Jack Turnbull said.

“Wiltshire Square runs this week, Cherish Me has a jumpout the following Monday and then she heads to the Prelude over 1100m, which will be two weeks before the Blue Diamond.

“They’re both going really well, they’re coming up at the right time and have the runs on the board, so that’s all you can ask.”

In Sportsbet’s market for the Blue Diamond Stakes on February 22, Cherish Me is the second favorite at $9, while Wiltshire Square is priced at $17.
