Leading Queensland jockey James Orman is recovering after a horse bit off the tip of his finger during a routine task on Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred as Orman was applying a tongue tie to a horse.
“It just took the tip off when I was putting the tongue tie on,” he told Punters.com.au.
“Definitely felt it and Iβm just getting X-rays at the minute.”
Orman, currently atop the Queensland metropolitan jockeys’ premiership with 30 winners this season, immediately sought medical attention to assess the extent of the injury.
He was set to ride four horses at Ipswich on Wednesday, but the impact of the injury on his upcoming commitments remains uncertain.
